First impression: it's a good song, although this one has to grow on me a bit more. I also think they should be careful not to repeat themselves too much, cause I saw that riff/drums/tempo coming from a mile away during the intro. But! It's catchy and I like the melodies and Joey's vocals a lot. The song has some interesting "hooks" to it. The chorus is great! I'm pretty siked to hear the rest! It has a groove, which can't be said about songs like The Second Day. You're kidding right? I think Second Day has an awesome groove... I don't feel the groove as much as I do on other tracks. It has a great lyrical content and some solid musical flow, but the average 4/4 roaming through without any significant transition doesn't make it a standout, and it's obvious that people don't dig it much, especially live. Don't get me wrong; I like the song, but that type of mid-tempo stuff goes pretty much unnoticed. A mid-tempo stuff like WtE, WoK and LLaE, having some serious 'thump' gets you warmed up and ready to roll!

I'm with Ernie Ball on this one; The second day has an awesome groove! And to me is one of the standout tracks on the album. But on the other parts you are right. The titletracks you mention are all copies of one another in some way. To me, as Ernie said, you could feel it coming from a mile; the tempo, the melodies, the drums. I really think they have to be carefull not to repeat themselves too much and become predictable. In that way I still don't see it as a smart move to work with Dave Cobb again. They never did it before and it paid off in a way that every album was (very) different to it's predecessor. I hope I'm wrong but judging by the first single I have a feeling that Walk the earth will be a War of kings part II in more than one way.

I am, perhaps, more relaxed about all this. I am just so happy that the band that I have followed to crazy lengths since I was 12 is still around and still so good. We are all very lucky to have new music every few years

Yes true! But it doesn't on the other hand mean we're not allowed to be critical about their output

Variety of tastes, which is cool, and I will stop there on that. I think working with Dave again is the right choice, since he can bring the dynamics and the spirit of the band out on the table. As a big Rival Sons fan, I may be biased a bit about Cobb, but he's a major factor in their musical style, and Europe chose to work with him cause he sees/hears things differently than other producers. The final product will be better this time around, and I'm fine with hearing an upgraded version of WoK, as long as it resonates with more dynamics and strength. Remember one thing though, Europe always like to point out that they're doing things their way since the reunion, so many of the people who are waiting on the new stuff to take a musical trip back to the 80s glorious days are ought to be disappointed.

I don't disagree strongly on many things, but not thinking critical about whatever it is is so wrong. I mean, I have so few things not to like about this band, but that doesn't mean I should be in constant approval of everything they put out. Again, to each of his own, but you guys sound hypocritical when calling out on not repeating the same pattern of songs, while agreeing on not being critical. Just saying.

Don't get me wrong. I am critical of some things (for instance very poor PR when it comes to the most recent TFC live package) and I can be critical of the new songs. My point was more general. I am simply happy to have the band around and to make the soundtrack of my life! As simple as that!

Well, yeah, I think we can all agree that we're lucky to have the band delivering great music on a regular basis. The rest is up to one's taste.
