This was posted in relation to the upcoming shows, which suggests April 2017: Just before these special Final Countdown shows, the band will head back into the studio to record a follow up to War Of Kings with an eye to a release date in April 2017. The album, as yet untitled, will have an extensive tour schedule to support the release, endeavouring to take in territories not visited in some time. Joey Tempest: “We will release our 11th studio album in 2017 and are enjoying a successful second part of our career since we started up again in 2004. Five new albums, three live DVD's and countless shows and we're still feeling adventurous and creative. No doubt we have the best job in the world and our fans, old and new, are carrying us through it all.” bravewords.com/news/europe-announces-the-final-countdown-30th-anniversary-tour-2016-11th-studio-album-coming-in-2017

2017 sounds better Thanks for both those responses. So far as expectations go then I hope they continue with their current style, War Of Kings perfectly brings together the best of their previous few records into one IMO... \m/

My personal hope is they will choose the same producer but work on a sample in the effect of wings of tomorrow. Double bass, galloping riffs and synths. In this day and age they would sound epic!

So anyway it occured to me today that their next album could maybe be titled 'Return of Kings'. Keep the king theme going perhaps? The title of a Europe next album has always been among our greatest speculations (and our favorites !)!!!

I'm hoping for a different producer on the next album. When I listen to War of Kings I think it could have been produced much better. I hope the new album can deliver a similar quality of production that we heard on Last Look At Eden, which remains my favourite of the newer albums.

Agree with you 100%! When I listen to Europe songs from different albums in random/shuffle mode the difference between War of kings and other albums are huge. War of kings sounds muddy and quiet. It doesn't sparkle and it never explodes out of the speakers. And that's a shame because when played live the songs come to life and fruition so much more!

In my opinion WOK sounds great, I like very much the soft and warm sound of the drums and of the guitars. But it`s true what you say and I also miss the explosive production of LLAE. I just think that both the band and the producer agreed that the songs of WOK had to sound more bluesy. And when it comes to the songs I'm sure that Last look at Eden or No stone unturned would not work with the production style of WOK but I would be very curious to listen how In my time would sound in that fashion. Just like I would had loved if they had given a little touch of epic to California 405 (some strings in the background would have been awesome). That said, for the next album I would have changed the producer...it is always a good idea to move on.

The difference is huge and I miss the sparkle and groove of LLOE. And the songs really come alive on stage, like Nothin' to Ya, and sound so much energetic... and better! (I only wish I could hear Children of the Mind live...). Would not mind at all if the next record would be different in that sense...

More keyboards, more harmonies, smoother vocals, catchy hooks. If they could go and re visit some of those elements but in a fresh new way then I'd be happy. We had glimpses of this sort of thing on SS. WOK is cool but its not the Europe sound I would listen to over and over again.
