Album: BAG OF BONES, (Review) April 16, 2012 by Christian Sellers SOURCE: LOVE IT LOUD.COM" ...Having taken three years to follow up Last Look at Eden, their new album feels like the band have taken time to rediscover themselves and revamp their sound. Bag of Bones is full of memorable guitar riffs, a strong rhythm section and the best performance Tempest has given in his thirty-year career ...""...Bag of Bones is certainly one of the heaviest albums that Europe have released, although it does have its mellow moments, such as the excellent Drink and a Smile and closing number Bring It All Home...""...Bag of Bones is arguably the best album of Europe’s career and certainly their most sophisticated. For the most part, it is packed with rich melody, strong production and impressive songwriting. For a band who enjoyed their most success almost thirty years ago, it is something of a triumph that this album erases their hair metal heyday by embracing their love of classic rock..."love-it-loud.com/reviews/europe-bag-of-bones/

Album: BAG OF BONES, (Review) By Jon– April 17, 2012 SOURCE: CACK BLABBATH
" ... Bag Of Bones is a lot more guitar orientated than the band’s previous albums, and it seems that John Norum has been allowed to express himself a lot more than in the past to incredible effect. Mic Michaeli is also allowed to shine, with a more classic keyboard sound harking back to the Hammonds of Deep Purple or The Doors..."
" ... the rhythm section of John Leven & Ian Haughland are definitely among the best in the business... "
" ... Joey Tempest by his own admission has said that his voice is getting a lot huskier as the years pass. It’s still unmistakeably Joey but with a dirtier, slightly more raw and unrestrained feel, and it sounds GREAT!! .." " ... The ballads are beautiful, and tear inducing, and the rock tracks will make you want to shake your head until your ears bleed ..."" ... You can FEEL the energy of the album, this is music from the heart, and it’s purity is unquestionable. I was expecting great things from Bag Of Bones and I’m delighted to say that it exceeds any of those expectations. Put simply, this is one of the finest hard rock albums I have ever heard...""... Bag Of Bones is a monster of an album. I was expecting greatness, but nowhere near this level. What more can I say? IT’S JUST F’KIN AWESOME!!!! ..."

It proves that Europe really have come of age and are now here to stay as one of the finest Rock bands on the planet..."

Album: BAG OF BONES, (Review) Written by Gaz E Monday, 23 April 2012 05:15 SOURCE: UBER ROCK" ... The first minute of album opener 'Riches To Rags' should convince you, John Norum's fat riff, Tempest's classy vocals and a typically intrusive hook all over your stereo like a dirty rock rash..."
" ... 'Bag Of Bones' (THE SONG) a fine example of how to transform a standard slow verse/massive chorus tune into something memorable... "
"... John Norum's playing will no doubt please the aural anoraks who indulge in such curious pleasures, while Joey Tempest's vocals again confirm that he is one of the finest singers in the classic rock realms ..."
" ... That this new work will resonate favourably with Europe fans is an understatement: in fact, I can imagine, come year end, the majority of classic rock aficionados naming 'Bag Of Bones' as their album of the year because there is high quality, not danger, on the tracks..."www.uberrock.co.uk/cd-reviews/24-april-cd/4730-europe-bag-of-bones-earmusicedel.html

Album: BAG OF BONES, (Review) Added: April 22nd 2012 Reviewer: Steven ReidSOURCE: Sea of Tranquility" ... New album Bag Of Bones finds a group of musicians who are at ease with themselves. Put simply, Europe are a band on a roll. Since they came back together, Joey Tempest, John Norum, Mic Michaeli, John Leven and Ian Haugland have confidently made music that oozes class ..."
"...Norum is phenomenal on this album and while his talents are never far from the forefront, what really makes this Bag Of Bones as intoxicating as it is, is the equal billing that the Hammond infused keyboard work of Mic Michaeli and the ever improving vocals from Joey Tempest receive. The combination of blazing guitar and pulsating keyboards infuse all of the songs on this album, ..."
"... Looking back through their catalogue, no matter which era you linger over, Europe have never released a bad album. However with Bag Of Bones they have topped the lot. If you've enjoyed any of their last three albums, you are going to adore this, but really Bag Of Bones is for anyone who loves expertly presented Rock music that comes from the heart ..."www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=12619

Album: BAG OF BONES, (Review) APRIL 16, 2012 SOURCE: SONICABUSE"...Europe, as overlooked as they have been, have proven to be one of the finest, most exciting and energetic hard rock bands to be currently treading the boards..."
"... Joey Tempest is certainly one part of the equation. His voice, always powerful, seems to have got better with age and it is now a soulful beast, capable of nailing the most sensitive of ballads or the heaviest of lung-busting anthems..."
"...But the real secret is his partnership with John Norum, the ultra-talented guitarist who is as comfortable unleashing riffs of devastating power as he is dusting off the acoustic to pick out a blues riff and it is the interplay between the two, ably backed up by the exquisite rhythm section of John Leven and Ian Haugland and atmosphere generating keys of Mic Michaeli that makes Europe such an almighty force to be reckoned with..."

Album: BAG OF BONES, (Review) Europe - Bag of Bones Enviado por Rob Jalford el Jue, 26/04/2012 RATE: 4/5 SOURCE: EL PORTAL DEL METAL (in spanish)"...If there is a band has changed their sound radically is Europe, ... It's like watching the worm become a butterfly, we went from the hairs carded and open blouses showing breast, to jeans and short hairs, the simplicity, the real thing. ..."
"...Europe has become very strong, with an album to listen several times and get good juice definitely a great band that moves like a fish in water in this new musical direction. ..." "...After an elegant cover that reminds me of Toto's "Tambú" hides an interesting work produced by Kevin Shirley (Maiden, Journey, Bonamassa, etc), which has achieved a sound very similar to Black Country Communion, with which keep many points in common Europe in this new work. If you like bands like Deep Purple, UFO, the early Whitesnake and Led Zeppelin, you're going to enjoy the beautiful with the new Tempest job and company..."www.elportaldelmetal.com/critica/europe-bag-bones

Like watching a favourite child blossom over a number of years, witnessing the glorious evolution of Europe has been a beautiful thing. We loved their 80s bombast but we love their bluesy transformation even more: Bag Of Bones is the culmination of a supremely talented band’s journey to classic rock redemption..."

Album: BAG OF BONES, (Review) Cristián Pavez SOURCE: ROCKAXIS (in spanish)"..."Bag of Bones" is the purest essence of a timeless sound that has lived since time immemorial through the magic of bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, UFO, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake and Gary Moore, and on this plate manifest as never before in a disk of Europe..."
