OUCH, WHAT-A-GROUP. I think and think and read anyone's motivation. But there's THE song here, standing still like a monolith, and what should I do? Jump over it, walk around ignoring it? And if THE song finally wins our competition? I'm afraid we'll stand there wondering: "but then... after 30 years, TFC is still the song Europe fans prefer, like all the rest of the world that barely knows 3 Europe songs overall? Does it mean Europe has not done comparable songs since 1986?" I'm getting crazy with similar reasoning. Then I get back to the start and I don't know what to choose. In the end I'll follow my heart and pick up: The final countdown (1986) No stone unturned (2009) (sigh, goodbye Sign of the times and Forever Travelling, I'm feeling a betrayer!!!)

Dear users, don't you think that "The Final Countdown" sounds lovely here ? I think so. Eva Tomorrow -- yes! It sure made me smile...and look how universal TFC is? What a great adaptation! Thanks for posting this. Now if you come across it in Pedal Steel Guitar, let me know hahaha!!

rather easy decision for me... in this group of 4 I see: 2 very good songs, 1 is excellent... and one absolutely outstanding, marvellous track. so my votes go to: 1. The Final Countdown 2. No Stone Unturned

No doubt about "No Stone Unturned" I hesitate between these two songs : ForeverTravelling is a gorgeous song with this call of travel... A voice that fly... The Final Countdown is a special song, of course it's THE SONG...But what I love the most with this song are the acoustic versions like this beautiful stripped version Finally I choose The Final Countdown No Stone Unturned

Hello people , the time to vote the songs of Group D is now expired. And just as Joey, I found the strength of breathing again . Until yesterday the fight was still terrible, today the clouds opened a bit and here’s the final result: No stone unturned: 11 The final countdown: 10Forever travelling: 7 Sign of the times: 2So No stone unturned and The final countdown join the final 16 . Even if I basically agree with EuropeMagnum’s statement (2 very good songs, 1 excellent and 1 absolutely outstanding ) and I also think that the two winners absolutely deserve their place in the Olympus of Europe music, I believe that Forever travelling and, most of all, Sign of the times would have also fitted good in the final 16. But they ended up in a very complicated group and, to show completely my sadomasochistic side , I confess that I enjoyed very much this battle. Next group: Group E Stormwind (1984) Start from the dark (2004) Last look at Eden (2009) Firebox (2012)
Fate (with a little help from Michaela Italy) gathered together three post-reunion songs (from different albums though), with only Stormwind to show the flag of the early period (but all four feature John Norum on guitar). This group is formed by: - The third single from the WOT album with John’s killer guitar tirelessly crossing Joey Tempest voice; - The program manifesto from the reunion album with its perfect mixture between modern hard rock and melody; - The epic first single from the LLAE album with its symphonic ouverture and the elaborated Kashmir feeling (and the great solo); - The haunting chorus and the terrific guitar (and the hypnotic sitar intermezzo) of the second single from the most recent work. This time I know very well which songs I will choose. But it’s going to be sad sacrificing the other two. Once again I’m very curious to follow the battle. This session will close on next Friday, October the 4th at 22.00. Once again I would like to thank everyone for participating, I appreciated all your comments, very funny and interesting, and your votes . And since today I like to repeat myself, I also reiterate that the game is still open to all those who want to join with their comments or simply with their votes. It’s your turn, choose your favorite two!

Very difficult group... "Stormwind" is a sure choice, but what about the second spot? All three songs kick ass, but in the end Ill have to go with... "Start from the Dark".

Start from the dark (2004) Last look at Eden (2009) Although if I have a favourite song from pre-TFC days, it is Stormwind, but SFTD and LLAE gets my vote.

Not a hard group for me, ... absolutely essential "Start from the Dark", and of course the majestic "Last look at eden" ... I find very interesting the reflection of vicky, made me think of "The Final Countdown", I voted for it, I think it's a song that should go far in this battle but it should not win. Our differentiating factor is the know appreciate other EUROPE songs, so we're here, it would be paradoxical that in the end our choice be as predictable as "The Final Countdown" , Anyway ... let's see!
