Playback Why do you think it was playback?

Why do you think it was playback? Only Staffan and Rompa from the crew were there. Other people setting up monitors, and none for Joey??? Check out Norum. There's no microphones on his amps. He's not playing his own guitar?? He is playing wireless?? -but there's no transmitter/antenna on his back when he is done with the solo.... The guitarists will notice that he doesn't change the pickups in the solo, the pickup selector is on the bridge pickup throughout the whole solo which is not right. and Ian: yes there are "overhead" microphones, but no microphone in the kick drum hole. Playback, or at least singback -and afterwards, someone told me it wasn't played live

That video is much clearer to see a few things during the solo that don't quite match up with the audio, including using the whammy bar at the end of the solo which would have been more audible if it really was played live. And indeed if the PU selector was in the bridge position the whole time during the solo (I cant make it out, eyes arnt that good!) then indeed, that has to be playback. But the next question is, if this was a playback performance, then when was it recorded as this isn't the same playback as was used for Geigo ad/TFC 30th Anniversary Edition release.

Ah yes i'm afraid you might be right Michael, judging by that video you posted. Joey is the only one performing live. I noticed Norum had a different Strat too, but I didn't think too much of it. Although I play guitar, I also didn't pay much attention to him not switching pickups during the solo. Guess I was just too excited about the whole performance in the other video But also because...it sounds so real and live! But the next question is, if this was a playback performance, then when was it recorded as this isn't the same playback as was used for Geigo ad/TFC 30th Anniversary Edition release. I'm guessing this was recorded during the rehearsals right before the show. It's not uncommon for TV shows to do that. Or the band has this backingtrack in stock, especially recorded for situations like these. But playback or not, it's still a live recording and it's a good one They should have used this for the 30th Anniversary edition!

I think they record every show... So probably one night on a tour when they really hit it, and then it has been through some sort of post-production.
Norum's amps are not even mic'ed so it was not recorded this night.
