Sweet Love Child. Such a great song. Could never understand why it never took off. I think it was timing and nothing else. It was a great tune.

For those talking about the key he is singing in. He's doing 6 songs compared to usual full show so as some have mentioned, I am sure he feels he can push it. He may also be trying to stretch his voice a bit knowing that they will do the TFC anniversary shows at the end of the year. Sometimes, songs don't sound as good musically when not in the same key, so maybe it's his hope to beef the vocals up even more than usual to pull of some of the tracks from TFC that they haven't played in 20+ years. Just a thought.

I don't think there's anyway around it. Kee needs to use the Europe name because that's all he's widely known for. Sure, there was Easy Action, but Europe made him money and gave him opportunities. In his defense, some quotes are taken out of context, or the author or the article changes the words around some to make it more inflammatory. That said, it's not the first time Kee has said the band fails to live up the sound of their past. I certainly like the PIP era, Ian even mentioned it in a recent interview that he wished they could play more from that album, so I would like to hear whatever Kee has in store. As a few have stated... let's just hope he doesn't sing!

Oops...sorry guys, didn't see this or I wouldn't have made the new thread!
So... which LBB tracks do you think he's "reworking?" Make up with Joey long enough to ask him to do the vocals on the LBB tracks so we don't have to listen to Kee sing. Great guitar player, not so much the singer.

I flew out to KC to see the show (and visit my brother). It was a great night and they were really on. I had seen them closer to home in NYC last April. A couple different songs from the Spring run. Great night, and my brother who isn't really a "rock" guy enjoyed it very much. He thought it was kind of cool seeing the band his kid brother loved growing up.

I saw over on melodicrock.com that Kee has signed a record deal with Frontiers Records for an album to be released later this year.
Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the signing of KEE MARCELLO for the release of a new album in the fall of 2016! Kee Marcello is best known for his time as the guitar player in the band EUROPE from 1986 to 1992 on such milestone albums as 'Out of this World' and 'Prisoners in Paradise'. With this new album, Kee intends to go back to the sound that helped him make his mark. Expect some amazing arena rock songs, which he he started working on at the end of 2015. Kee says: 'I'm really excited about this album. I'm making a new departure from the 'Le Baron Boys' era, bringing it into the future. I've always felt that there was something magic about the material that Sony mysteriously refused to release on PIP, and now the time has come to put things right. It's time to complete my 'unfinished symphony'. This is the album that Europe never managed to record after Prisoners In Paradise. The songs will have a very familiar ring for everyone who loves that era. And as a homage to all the faithful fans I've recorded two previously unreleased Le Baron Boys tracks on the album. With one foot in the past and one in the present I think this album will raise a lot of eyebrows - not to mention HORNS!'. Kee is making plans for a full European tour in support of the new release. Stay tuned for more details!
I always find it a bit interesting that whenever Kee says something, he seems to take what many would consider as a swipe at the band. Granted, the quote could be taken out of context, nor does the band want to write heyday era albums, but the comments always seem to pop up.

SLC was one of the song written during the Prisoners sessions. The only reason I would think that it was close to making the album, is that there was a fully produced version ready for 82-92, where most of the other LBB tracks did not get back decent demos. There are a lot of great songs from those sessions that didn't make the album. No idea if there is a particular story behind SLC or merely fiction.

After the 10 year wait, went and saw the guys last night in NYC. The set was the same that they've been playing on the US dates, so no surprises there. Since we rarely see them over here, there was one significant observations that I made since I saw them on the SFTD tour. While they were really good back on the SFTD tour at the various shows I saw, you could really tell that they've now been back together for 10 years. They were spot on, and extremely tight. I can't think of anything that went wrong; it was a perfect show.
The guys really seemed into the gig as well. Joey was really interacting with the crowd well and made a couple trips out into the audience as well as into the balcony of the venue. The usually understated John Norum also seemed more engaging than he usually is. He was smiling a lot and looked to be having a really good time. John, Mic, & Ian were all in top form, but we all know most of the attention is on Joey and John N.
The only thing I am disappointed about is that since their tour is so short, I can't make any of the other dates that are relatively close to me this weekend, due to schedule conflicts.
Ian posted on his FB page last night that he promises that it won't be 10 years before they are back again. I hope that's the case; I remember similar comments from the guys 10 years ago.
Finally, I was unable to stick around after the show to try and get any pictures or meet the guys. I had met them a couple times on the SFTD tour. Like everyone, you can always complain that there are a couple songs you'd rather hear in place of others, the collective....why is Sign of the Times still in the set question, but overall it was my best Europe concert experience.

I'll be at the NYC show. They are playing with Black Star Riders that night...Hopefully the set isn't a short one like some nights on the UK tour.

Wow, with the short playing time that set is pretty weak in my opinion.
