Fantastic reviews! But in all honesty, I don't think it (War of Kings) comes close to their 80's releases! It isn't even their strongest effort since the comeback. Secret society still holds that title in my opinion. Don't get me wrong; I will support everything the band does but if you rank War of Kings with 10/10 what the hell would you give albums like Wings of tomorrow or The final countdown?? It looks like the reality is a little lost in there... For me personally I can honestly say that from what I've heard so far of this album, and also most of their post re-union releases, that I would rank them above The Final Countdown. Of course everything Europe does will get compared to that album because of the scale of its success. For me though, Europe are at an all time high now and mainly, though not only, because of the maturity of the song-writing and lyrics. I will always love the music they did back then, but for me, now, this is better.

Wonderful review in a spanish web MARISKALROCK, ... really amazing!
RATE: 9/10
mariskalrock.com/index.php/2015/03/02/europe-war-of-kings/
"... With a breathtaking display cover, the five components of the classical training of Europe billed an elegant, varied, elaborate and nuanced disk where the producer has managed to make the best of each of the musicians, jointly and separated. The band will take long to abdicate ..."
"... Ultimately, this work, although it is a look behind Europe in terms of honoring the vintage sound of their idols, is another step forward in the race to sign the Swedes. It has a lot of "retro classic rock" as I had its predecessor "Bag Of Bones" (more bluesy), but also continues twinned with the unmistakable sound of the band. The Swedes have never repeated a disc, something commendable and courageous in my opinión ... "

Very good and interesting review, this time in english globaltexanchronicles.com/review-europe/ "... Europe are free to look back at the strengths of their legacy and keep on growing on them, perfecting one of the hottest classic rock sounds you could find in today’s business ..."
"...If previous album “Bag Of Bones”, with American producer Kevin Shirley at the helm, was a declaration of pure love and full rediscovery in sound of their seventies hard rock influences, the new “War Of Kings” keeps on in the same track except for the fact that the resulting album is even more focused and natural sounding; Dave Cobb (producer of our friends and rockers extraordinaire, Rival Sons) was able to capture on tape the real essence of the five-piece ..."
"... The exquisite tone of John Norum’ guitar solos has never been so impressive ..."
"... In conclusion, even if it’s just February, “War Of Kings” should be considered a serious contender to the scepter of classic rock album of the year, and the definitive shout at those fans still wrapped in 80’s nostalgia and those (very few) critics that still consider them just that final countdown bunch; simply one of the best efforts of a brilliant career still “raging across the rainbow bridge ..."

Another cool review www.rocktopia.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6298%3Aeurope-war-of-kings&catid=910%3Acd-reviews&Itemid=485"... Full of sumptuous solos, terrific drumming from Haughland, and solid bass as ever from John Leven, along with Michaeli's keys becoming more prominent and Tempest singing his heart out (whilst invoking his inner Robert Plant with the stunningly powerful 'Children Of The Mind' – another corker similar to 'Doghouse' from the previous 'Bag Of Bones' album), Europe have hit us with a superb album that should see the "sold out" signs littered across their forthcoming World tour! ..."

.. and another very good review etainmentnewsreviews.wordpress.com/classic-rock/classic-rock-reviews/europe-war-of-kings/ "... this album is very much Michaeli’s work. The guy is such an underrated keyboard player that never gets mentioned when there is talk about keyboard players. To me he belongs up there with, maybe not Jon Lord, but very well Don Airey and Ken Hensley and on here he is all over the place with arrangements that really lifts the songs – way to go Mic."
