Review in Spanish site MASDECIBELIOS masdecibelios.es/nueva-cancion-de-europe-war-of-kings/They talk about the new song ... " ... The song WAR OF KINGS, What does it sound? It is a dark court, with an air very Deep Purple and those last solo albums of Glenn Hughes (I think Soul Mover, for example). The blues influence is evident and the voice of Joey Tempest still in the lower register that I would have heard in the last works of the Swedish training. The chorus is melodic, but neither has the air of hit. If you still think that Europe will get another The Final Countdown, then go to disappointed and or changing the chip ... "
Well , blues influence? Lower Joey's voice? I think that WOK goes to give us very different opinions ...

Do you think the reviewer only refers to the song War of Kings? He probably talks about the whole album. In the catalogue of EMP Germany there is a short review, too, saying that the album sports an "overall significant blues influence".

Hi steph , in this case the journalist speaks about the song not about the album and confirms a "clear influence blues" . The German writer has been due to hear the whole album and has come to this conclusion for other songs, let's see! But at the moment I can not see blues in this song, anyway every song brings different emotions in each of us and maybe the journalist has felt in this way.

Ha, your right, it says "cancion" ... sorry, I overlooked that! But blues doesn't necessarily mean it's a slow and sad song. And I don't think it's bad if somebody says the song has a touch of blues.

You're right , there is nothing wrong with The blues, BAG OF BONES is full of Influences of this genre, is a great album and has had the best reviews, but I find nothing blues in the song "War of Kings", this song evokes to me the "Start from the Dark" album and the melody and the chorus reminds me the EUROPE from OUT THIS WORLD or even PRISONER IN PARADISE, (probably I'm )

Little Review published today on the single WAR OF KINGS (in spanish) rockthebestmusic.com/2015/02/war-kings-europe.html" ... War Of Kings, the new Europe's album, will go on sale next March 6. The band, which for years sounds more like classic hard rock that pomposity of its albums of the eighties, has teamed this time with Dave Cobb, the producer of nothing less than the Rival Sons, the seventies hurricane. Imagine for where the shots of the War Of Kings.
The single, of course, perfectly blends melody of their own past with a guitar forcefulness with which already had the great Bag Of Bones, apart from a more measured Joey Tempest. A great breakthrough that you can hear on these lines ... "

Link about "War of Kings", dated 5- February (in spanish) genetikarockradio.com/los-suecos-europe-regresan-triunfales-con-%E2%80%98war-of-kings%E2%80%99/ THE SWEDES RETURN TRIUMPHANT WITH "War of Kings""... Far away are the days when Europe led the carding heavy metal of our beloved continent. These Swedes have known age (and evolving) with elegance and are now masters of hard rock. 'War Of Kings' is their new job. The album's title track is highly recommended. 1986. Europe gave the bell with that album entitled 'The Final Countdown', full of heavy metal suitable for the masses and songs heard ad nauseum. However, while Joey Tempest and his own are dressed in black leather and hair cardan. The Swedish band again proves its excellence when composing and performing hard rock notch. This time make it through 'War of Kings' title track to the disc published next March 2 (producer by Dave Cobb, Rival Sons). Do yourself a favor and give yourself to 'play'. And if blaring, much better ... "
