Hey wardy, welcome Yeah you're right, this record is really made for vinyl. I Agree! The "book" is the same as the inside of the cd, only in bigger format. It has all the lyrics and the "special thanks" words. But very nice item nonetheless.

I agree with you on some parts. But I'm curious which songs you reckon as 'a waste of space' and 'boring and oridnary'. For me those are: Second Day, Praise You, Angels and Light it up. They would have also fit wel on a JT solo album. About the songs i didn't mention, from 1-10 i would rate them as a 7 or 8, nothing outstanding. I also remember that JN did not want to play the song Prisoners live. I thought it was to much pop/soft for him. But that song was much better and less soft than the songs i mentioned, so i also do not understand that. It's just not a (heavy) rock album overall and also not good enough (for Europe standards).

Okay interesting view. I can't agree with you on Second day as I think it's the stand out track on the album. About Prisoners you are right. I can't understand why Norum hates it so much. But maybe he has changed his mind as they started playing it now and then. The thing that really surprises me is that on the last couple of albums the more classic hardrock songs are written by Joey alone (Doghouse and Days of R&R for example). I always thought that Joey was the one for the soft and mellow songs and Norum for the heavy stuff. But Norum doesn't contribute so much in songwriting to be honest. Not as much as I'd expected anyway.
I think you need to listen to the album again.... And again... And again... Because this album is one of their best ones! They can NOT stay and make music like they did in the good old 80-90's!! It is 2015 and they have to alter their sound and do fresh new music! And this album has good solid rock with new twists!
Thank you, but of course i did. About 5 songs are to much pop /slow and also just not good enough concerning writing. You know, perhaps as a fan for about 30 years now i have to high standards. All i want is just good songs that rock with power and good melodies, cause i still believe they can provide us that. Overall and judging it by Europe standards, the album is overall to weak. Not one outstanding powerfull song on the whole album!

Not one outstanding powerfull song on the whole album! After hearing the first single title track was probably in a similar headspace but thinking the album is full of power and good melodies. Granted it's a tad slower than wanted but after expecting it to do little, many of the songs are growers and have taken these ears by surprise. Certainly think it's a higher standard than the previous two records, am pleasantly very taken by most the material. At this stage I'm rating it at least an 8.5 reckon it's going to sit comfortably in this fans top5 Europe records! To each their own of course, interesting to read your nicely explained thoughts... I mean hey, plenty people picked up on the band with The Final Countdown but personally reckon it's the weakest of all their releases LOL

Yeah well been a fan of Europe for many many maaany years here too and I have to say WELCOME TO THE 2015!! No one can survive on old premises! They can NOT make same 80-90's music just because some old fans wants it and the fans refuse to think new and fresh and stays in the old 80's! This album has just IT! Good solid rock n roll with new sound! Good song writing and music! Even JT says this is their best album!

Even JT says this is their best album! Lol that's what every artist says about their new release! The overall 'problem' with Europe is that they are somehow a completely different band compared to the 80's. There are ofcourse elements of old mixing with new but there it stops. They can't make an album like Wings of tomorrow anymore simply because they don't want to. Personally I hate this situation because to me all their old stuff is better. I like all their newer albums to some level but it lacks something. On the other hand; take any other band that had it's prime in the 80's and you'll find out that none of them are able to make albums like they did back then. So Europe is not alone in this. And it doesn't matter much because they (Europe) still play live and that's their strongest point. The old days are never coming back. That's for sure! But there are enough other decent bands who make albums like it's still the 80's.
