They've done Doghouse, which is as groovy as this one. Totally different songs. No comparison whatsoever....

just my 2 cents: "Hole in my pocket" sounds okay, with a similar feel to "The Beast"... "Days of Rock n Roll" is an EXCELLENT rock song in Thin Lizzy style... ... but the title track is the best I've heard so far... something like EUROPE meets BLACK SABBATH featuring R. J. DIO... mysterious, melodic Heavy Rock! I like it much better than the title track from LLAE...

vielip: Both songs are straightforward classic rock and roll with no frills and a kick-as groove.

I tried to resist listening to another new song, as I would prefer to listen to the album as a whole rather than have this drip-feed. But it was no good, so I had a listen..'Days of Rock 'n' Roll' is a good song. It does have quite a strong Thin Lizzy influence, in particular the rhythm and riff sort of strongly reminded me of the song 'Suicide'. Actually I have to say that I think this style suits Europe a little bit better than the darker and heavier 'War of Kings' (but I like both styles). I think a mixture of styles is good, I don't want an album full of songs that all sound the same. The only thing I would like to hear, which I'm not really hearing at all at the moment is more backing vocals, and vocal harmonies like they used to do. Europe can be really good at those when they want to be, and to me it's a shame they aren't using them. Maybe they think it would sound too 'eighties'

I may have done the band something of an injustice in describing 'Days of Rock 'n' Roll' as only 'good'. Having listened to it multiple times, I have to say I am totally and utterly hooked. This is a simply EXCELLENT song. Very Thin Lizzy, and that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. It has that bouncy, up-lifting and life-affirming feel that Europe do so well. Reminds me quite a bit of the Prisoners in Paradise unreleased demos. For me, this ranks as my new number one of the 3 new songs I've heard. My ranking being;
1. Days of Rock 'n' Roll 2. Hole in My Pocket 3. War of Kings

I'm gonna listen to it just one time, I don't wanna spoil the entire thing, I want to hear the entire album. Btw, "Days Of Rock And Roll" is pretty good song, it has that nostalgia thing in it. The main riff reminds me a bit of "Gimme All Your Love" from Whitesnake, and the verses riff is a bit Thin Lizzy - "Suicide", as you mentioned @mark-David, which is pretty cool.

War of Kings (the album) is album of the month in the Dutch metal and hardrock magazine 'Aardschok'! A very very good achievement and something to be proud of! As far as I can remember this is the first time Europe achieved this in the magazine. They get 87/100 as a score.
