I'm sure it means something like an army (or multiple armies) was slaughtered until there was (almost) only one man left. That's my guess, anyway. Ah ha! You're absolutely right! That makes perfectly sense, thank you! That's why, the war of kings began: the king is the only man left! I should have known...

I would interpret "The seeds of legend lie" to mean: This is the situation legends are made of.

Here is the revised version of the lyrics, still NOT OFFICIAL, that watercolourgirl and I have been discussing after having listened to the song downloaded from iTunes and the input from various people from different groups, including this forum. WAR OF KINGS - NOT OFFICIAL LYRICS...JUST FANS MUSING OUT LOUD A promise on the edge of madness A Northern mourns the world of men (still not 100% sure) Gonna drive them into exile Or never let them breathe again On that night, under the raging Northern sky The seeds of legend lie Slaughtered almost to a man The War of Kings began In a land thrown into darkness An army would arise The heathens died laughing At the king's men, heads borne high On that night, under the raging Northern sky The seeds of legend lie Slaughtered almost to a man The War of Kings began On that night, under the raging Northern sky The seeds of legend lie Slaughtered almost to a man The War of Kings began The War of Kings began The War of Kings began Here the notes from watercolourgirl: This is an updated *speculated* version of what some of us think the lyrics are for "War Of Kings". I think our original thoughts have been shared to fan pages/groups and I really want to stress to those reading this -- these are NOT OFFICIAL lyrics. We probably won't have the official lyrics until we read them in the album's liner notes - assuming the band stays true to form and includes them, as they have in the past. If someone out there is hearing something totally different lyrically, please join in this thread and give us your thoughts!

Just received an email from Amazon UK, saying that the expected delivery date for WOK has been brought forward to 28th February!! This is good Maybe it means the release date has been brought forward? That's great news! Hopefully they'll put the release day forward. Regarding the single (and the album) and their production... I have this strange, empty feeling after listening the track so many times. I think that the production could've been a bit more sharp. I'm saying this because I grew fond of Dave Cobb's production for Rival Sons. Damn, those guys can play some rock'n'roll. The production on their albums is magnificent, every instrument is a story for itself, it has that warm sound floating in the air. Their style is a bit different than the one from Europe - that we're used to, maybe that's the explanation. I hope the whole album will be greater than what we heard from the single. Or maybe the CD quality will bring that warm sound that I'm thinking of. Can nikos explain something a bit more about the production, having heard the entire thing? If you see this man - we're waiting for an answer. At the end, I think the production (on the single) is made that way so Mic can fill those holes in the song, because Norum isn't hitting full power on his guitar - it's more melodic, 'old-Norum' style. I'm waiting for some crazy ass solos with wah's and big distortions. BTW My personal favorite production from the reunion onward is Tobias Lindell's magic on LLAE.

At the beginning you think to have fallen into Riches to Rags but then it explodes differently! Very powerful! Solid and well-structured. Vocals are very confident and assessed, no weakness at all! Catchy refrain! |8

Wow, great song. Reminds me of 'The Beast'. Somehow manages to feel both old and new all at the same time. Loads of Hammond type sounds again. Love it! How did this one leak out?
By the way, I think it is more likely to be 'stone in my shoe..'

I've had a go at the lyrics. I'm not very good at separating out the verses, refrains, choruses etc, but you get the idea. They aren't 100%, but I think they are pretty close...
Hear the cry of the battle-boar, (battle-bow?) God is working his ways tonight, Way back we're on (beyond?) this road, (Not sure about this bit) But it's a future I can live without One spark lit up this place, Two sparks baby - amazing grace Break-neck speed, can't read the signs You got me runnin' clean outta time
Let's not Pretend, (Let's all pretend?) We don't pretend It's not the end It doesn't feel better than this
Hole in my Pocket, Stone in my Shoe Time keeps on winning What can you do? I just can't stop it, Blowin' a fuse Time keeps on winning, What can you do?
Hey baby how did we get here? Always thought we were already there, Spend my money to buy more time, Now forever's kicking (keeping?) me around Hey listen, I'm not taking calls Ain't going back to nothin' at all Against all laws (odds?), and evidence I knew my sun was gonna rise again!
Let's all Pretend We don't pretend, It's not the end, It never gets better than this.. (or 'I know it gets better than this')
Hole in my pocket Stone in my shoe, Time keeps on winning, What can you do? I just can't stop it I'm blowing a fuse Time keeps on winning, What can you do?
Hole in my pocket Stone in my shoe, Time keeps on winning, What can you do? I just can't stop it I'm blowing a fuse Time keeps on winning, What can you do?
