I can see them doing something around TFC, like doing the whole album like they did WOT. SS was a decent album, but I see no reason to celebrate it after 10 years if they already ignored SFTD when it was 10 years old.

Here an interview a few days ago to Joey, he speaks of the celebration for the 30th anniversary of THE FINAL COUNTDOWN, is in Swedish and Google Translation does not help much, says some incoherent things, if any Swedish friend can translate it would be great, but Joey talks about some kind of celebration. www.rockbladet.se/2015/01/joey-tempest-om-japan-och-nya-war-of-kings/ "2016 är det 30 år sedan “The Final Countdown” släpptes.

In 2016 it will be 30 years since The Final Countdown was released. Maybe there are fans who dream of a special The Final Countdown show next year to celebrate. Europe are planning to celebrate it in some way, but maybe not with spandex pants and hairspray like in the 80s.
"No, but we're going to celebrate it in some way. We will probably take a part of next year... But we have got new plans and new albums. We have a brand new journey, but we're not gonna let it pass us by. We've started to plan some exclusive ideas. But it won't be a long-time thing. You'd rather do something exclusive and celebrate and then work on the next album. We've managed to establish ourselves again. We're one of the few bands that have started to shake off the 80s. And with five albums, it took time. Damn it took time! But it's also now that we've managed to get a producer like Dave Cobb who's really good and really popular. That's when people start to look at you like, "What? Europe and Dave Cobb? Damn. This is something new. This is not the 80s, this is a new band." So we are a new band."

It is such a shame that the band speak about the 80's like it is some sort of disease or something. Come on guys; if you weren't there in the 80's you would'nt have been here today! Be proud of what you've achieved back then and don't talk about 'shake off the 80's' and crap like that...

It would be great to have a TFC Live album, with every song played live. One question, what was the disaster cover you're talking about? Is it the acoustic one they did? About the 80's, I think it's the time when they did their big breaktrough and it's something to be proud of, but since then, everything has been compared to what it was. I guess that many people felt a bit shocked to hear SFTD for the first time and said: where are the synths and the predominant keyboards? (in fact, I was one of them at first). But anyway, they just want to move on and be much more than the "TFC Band" (because there are many people who only knows about TFC and they don't know that the band has written MANY epic songs).

One question, what was the disaster cover you're talking about? I'm guessing it's the one that Joey watches here? EDIT: Nevermind, ent was probably thinking about this one:

An autobiography would be VERY welcome indeed! Also a deluxe edition of TFC album would be very nice and welcome. But please please please let them make it a 2cd version. So you have the original album on disc 1 and all the other stuff on disc 2. Leave the legacy intact and don't destroy it by putting songs after Love chaser! The only exception maybe is On broken wings. As I think it should've been included on the album from the start. As for the extra's on disc 2 I like it to have a complete concert from TFC tour with Norum. The only risk is that they put the Solna show on it. Which would be a shame because we already have that one. The other option is that they finally release the complete Hammersmith show on dvd. But since Kee was in the band at that time I don't see it happening. I agree on every single word. A deluxe 2 cd edition would be great...if only they had some unreleased material from that recording session...but I'm afraid that everything from that era has been already released.

The Final Countdown 2000 was not produced by the band, Sony asked Joey to do a new version with TFC and he produced The Final Countdown Blue Version. Sony didn't liked it and hired two people to mix the song and produce the dance version that was released.

Sony could do that without involving Europe in the operation. I'm not against the cover itself, hell, even Crazyfrog did it. I hardly accept that beside that song there's the name Europe. That was a bad move IMHO
