2014 is the 30th anniversary of the album WOT. But it's also the 10th anniversary of a very important event : EUROPE revival in 2004, with the excellent album Start From The Dark. For many of you (I was not yet a Europe fan at this time !. .), I suppose it was a kind of miracle. Very strange that EUROPE didn't speak at all of this. It would be great if they decided to play SFTD in its entirity, too ! BTW, as it seems there'll be a new album at the end of the year, I wonder if it'll be a kind of tribute of this 2 albums...

For many of you (I was not yet a Europe fan at this time !. .), I suppose it was a kind of miracle. Absolutely, still seems to me a miracle, I remember the disappearance of the band after the album "Prisoners in Paradise", left us feeling very sad, and life has put them back on our wayVery strange that EUROPE didn't speak at all of this. Unfortunately I don't find it strange that EUROPE no talk about all of this, although I would love, 10 years after its return with these wonderful albums and as well received by critics and the public, getting a comfortable and consolidated position in the difficult music world today is not easy, and is something that could be held in any way. Although I don't think they will do so.

Seeing their recent setlists, it seems confirmed that EUROPE don't want to celebrate their revival : there remain NOT ANY song from SFTD album ; not even a single one...

I think SFTD worked for what their aim was at the time. Raw, but not polished. I think they are back to producing more polished songs and production on that albums. SFTD was good, but my opinion is that it has a few good "singles" but some of the other tracks are fillers, or maybe looking back, they aren't as happy with it as they were. The other post-revival albums seem to have garnered more attention from fans and media alike, so it will probably become more of a forgotten album. The other logical issue is with more and more post-revival records, they are having to try and squeeze in more and more new tracks with the classics that fans expect them to play. So, it's unfortunate, but I am not really surprised that SFTD isn't represented in the setlist.

Today a great surprise, a nice post on the official facebook page of the band, celebrating the 10th anniversary of their return with reference to the concert on June 12, 2004 at the Sweden Rock Festival. Well I was not very optimistic about the celebration of the band's 10th anniversary of this second stage but I'm glad I was wrong ... it was something small but nice, many people are making comments ... I don't know, maybe something is changing for the better , I hope! The post: 10 YEARS AGO ON THIS DAY: The Sweden Rock Festival Reunion Show! June 12 2004 saw Europe stride back onto the world stage in Solvesborg, Sweden at the Sweden Rock Festival! Happy times that marked the very beginning of our "phase 2". What a long and rewarding road it has been! One decade on, and we're still feeling at the top of our game!
What was YOUR highlight from this milestone show?

I know many of you won't agree with me, but in a way, for me, this was the birth of the "true" EUROPE. I mean : it is during this decade that EUROPE played exactly what they wanted, and became the masters of their destiny. So, this is the birthday of "MY" Europe.

You know, I think the "real Europe" exist in both stages,... Now we see what happened in the 80s with perspective and there are things that can surprise us but at that time their music, success and even the image of the band was very vanguard. I think they approached with their music the hard rock style to many people who until then didn't follow it too much, they were also pioneers on this. I also lived that time with great intensity, a teenager and I have very fond memories of that stage ... I could not choose which stage is best. In any case ... This could be the sketch a really tough battle , "Songs of the first stage vs Songs of the second stage" really hard.

This would be the MOTHER of all battles! Songs from EUROPE, WINGS OF TOMORROW, THE FINAL COUNTDOWN, OUT OF THIS WORLD, PRISONERS IN PARADISE VSSongs from START FROM THE DARK, SECRET SOCIETY, LAST LOOK AT EDEN, BAG OF BONES Yes, it's just a project, we need our master of ceremonies to perform it, and we don't know about his availability and his interest in the project. ent, are you out there?

Hello, sorry for the late answer. I've been offline a couple of days. I like the idea and i was thinking about something like that as well. But maybe we should wait for the new album. That way we'd have five albums for phase 1 vs. five album belonging to phase 2. Wouldn't that be better? It needs a little patience bit it's going to be perhaps funnier. Don't you agree?
