John Norum (52 famous players on their first guitars)
It's an article dated last year (2 July 2012), speaks of the first guitars in their youth from great guitarists like Slash, Joe Bonamassa, Phill Collen and of course the number 52 who is John Norum. John says, “I was 12 years old and my mom gave it to me. It was actually her guitar. I can’t remember the name of it, it was an acoustic. I didn’t have a plectrum, so I took a bottle opener and used that as a pick. I ripped that thing apart – all the finish was gone. I was quite aggressive… I was playing hard, even back then.”

There's an error... He was 10 years old when he started playing his mother's acoustic guitar. At 12 he was already very good and Hempo (later his drummer) told how talented he was even if so young. A few later, his stepfather took him into the studio where he was rehearsing with Eddie Meduza and at 14 years old he recorded a guitar solo for Eddie. His 30th anniversary of career was in 2008, but that year there were no celebrations.. It was a tragic year for John, Jake and the Meldrum/Norum family.

So, he was younger still he was 10 when he started playing guitar. Interesting, I didn't know that Hempo was the visionary of John, he is (if I think we are talking about the same guy) friend of all of us at Facebook, a very nice guy. Well, this year is the 35th anniversary of John in the music world, also a good number.
