Joey has said several times that TFC production was looking for american radio. I love WOT's powerfull and stark sound but if could ask one record to have another production it would be Out Of This World, where Kee's guitar es awesome but keyborad are maybe too much on the top. And another cover, please, that one with the faces in blue is horrible.

I like both WOT and OOTW. It's true they have quite different styles, but I think it's related to what was "on-the-air" at this time. Every EUROPE album has always sounded actual ; their production have always been related to what was "fashionable" (although I don't really like this word, -but I don't find any better one right now !), even if in every album you can find EUROPE's specificity. That's why IMO, OOTW couldn't have sounded like WOT, because in 1988 the sound was very different from 1984 : many many evolutions between theese 2 dates.
Personnaly, I enjoy that every Europe album is different from the previous one. That's what makes that I never feel tired by this band.
Even inside a same album, my tastes are changing sometimes. Right now, one of my favorite in WOT is : "Dance the night away"

WOT is my favorite Europe album. Frankly, TFC sounded a bit pop for my liking and OOTW way too cheesy. PIP was an effort to go back to TFC days but production was messed up.
Contrary to some, I loved Tony Reno's work. He was an old school drummer and he really suit the Europe sound. He was not kicked for his play but for being a bit lazy. At the moment not many Swedish bands could make such records. I can name one and I can see influences from this band to Europe too, Heavy Load, the fathers of Swedish heavy metal.
WOT is an album with zero weak songs. From start to the end, it kicks ass. I liked that era. Unexploited and pure. Meeting with pals and listening to tapes all day long. WOT was among our favorites.

I was among the ones who didn't like Tony reno, but I've changed my mind, now. Just watch this : BTW, the whole performance is amazing there
