I remember in the nineties when Joey Tempest appeared with a sweet image and with a very different kind music the he had done until that moment ...
One of my favorite songs from that era was it, "a place to call home".
Soooo sweet Joey, ... he he now he is more "hard", right? I think he needs to explore new stages ...

I think he still is both sides, but he just shows the "hardest one". But to know that he can go so sweet makes him terribly attractive. That's how I see him. I have recently bought all his 3 solo albums and I like particularly the first and the third one. "Sometimes" is a pearl. And when I start my day in a state of confusion, I must listen to "Losers" while driving the kids at school...! This song is able to make every cloud disappear! It's so light and makes me laugh, so that my day goes smooth after that! "Mirror ball, mirror ball, who's the funkiest of us all?" [The right answer is JT, btw...]

To be honest, Joey's solo albums failed to get hooked me, I remember that was a time when music grunge triumphed, it had left parked rock bands from the 80s that was the music I listened. Suddenly Joey appears with a totally different style of music to EUROPE ... I passed of listening to "Scream of Anger" to "A place to call home" ... and I'll take the first ... I loved the idea that Joey continue in music world, but didn't recognize him. I respect a lot that stage of him, I guess it was his way to evolve, but I stay with the Joey from EUROPE. I think that in his public appearances although is correct and polite, tries to hide himself, his effort now is to put to the band in the musical place it deserves, very high and he is getting it, leaving aside any question about his image. I think it's a very good way to go, although it's impossible to hide all his charm, ...

Even if you can still recognize the introspective part of him who took the lead at that time...that's why it's different from Europe where he must be a rocker and the frontman. Listening to "Elsewhere" I thought: "Oh my, this is Elton John!" The influence of Elton John on this song is quite evident in my opinion. Joey always succeeds in taking some best influence from the other great authors and songwriters and making a step ahead. I come from The Beatles and Elton John in my past. For sure I can say Joey Tempest breathed them and went straight along his own path exploiting all the best he could from his experience of listening to good music!

Yes it's true sounds very similar to Elton John , even the Joey's voice reminds me of this musician in the video. You know Michaela, this Joey's stage generates me some melancholy , I remember when I was hearing this song back in the 90s, I didn't know what the future was going to store for us, for me he was the new Joey and I liked more the Joey of EUROPE, but they had dissolved, so it was a strange feeling. Now, after spending time with the wonderful last 4 albums and the time that we are living I see this stage fondly .
