Friends,
We hope you are all safe and well and all who came to see us on our recent tour had some fun and good times.
When we were running our weekly “Ask The Band” (which we will resume again soon) we had some reoccurring questions on both Facebook and Instagram which we thought we would attempt to answer now.
Firstly was ‘When are you going to tour the USA?’
The simple answer is as soon as it’s possible!
The more complicated answer is…..as soon we can make it feasibly viable - so let us explain that further.
When we last toured the US six years ago we played a mixture of Theaters, Halls, Clubs and Casinos as the Headliner. This was fantastic but we made the conscious decision after to come back as part of a package, to play to a larger audience and spread the word about Europe to people who may not be familiar with the band outside of Carrie and The Final Countdown.
It took a couple of years but then we were approached by our friends in Foreigner to do their 2020 tour as part of a three band package with Kansas also.
Well, we all know what happened in March 2020. The pandemic hit! The plan was to rearrange the dates for the summer of 2022 to start July 6th (hence we planned to finish the Whitesnake Europeans tour in Milan on June 28th so we should have a few days at home before heading overseas) and we had a routing and we’re ready to announce.
Unfortunately with COVID still rampant and insurance companies not covering cancellation insurance for anything COVID related, Kansas decided they could not risk the chance of dates being pulled by COVID illness across a 40 plus person tour party which to be honest was a very sensible decision so the bill fell apart and Foreigner decided to take other tour options that were offered them.
We, our management and agent with the help of our friends at Live Nation are now actively looking for the right package for us to go out on in 2023 or 2024 so we can come and see you all again and hopefully make many new fans in the process.
The planning and outlay just to make the first show on US soil is quite considerable, with flights, cargo, buses, trucks, work permit costs and process, IRS CWA withholding tax etc etc.
We would be in severe trouble if what happened in Europe this summer with mass artist cancellations, happened in the US with no insurance coverage so we want you all to be aware of the business issues that confront us as a European band touring the USA.
But hopefully touring as part of a package now will make that dream possible in the near future. Please please bear with us and we will be over Stateside soon
…..and that brings us to your other questions regarding new music.
We know it’s been a while …WTE was out in 2017 but we are now writing and coming up with some pretty interesting stuff. This time we’re probably more connected to our past but of course as always aiming to be unique and adventurous.
We plan to go in the studio next year to record and hopefully put new music in 2023. If not the whole album there would be new songs surfacing.
It’s still a ways off but at the same time we are planning some special things for 2023 which is the 40th anniversary since the first album.
The 40th anniversary plans will be announced shortly and we hope you will as excited as we are!
Also….As some of you have noticed we have been filming and recording shows as well as conducting interviews for a long time now and we are planning to release something next year around the anniversary. More details to follow in due time.
So dear friends, as you can see there are a lot of things happening for us all the next couple of years.
We hope that answers some of your questions and thanks again to everyone for all your support throughout our career.
We know we have some pretty cool fans out there ✌️❤️
