For the seventh week of Ask the Band, Joey answered a question on Facebook: Joey, what brand microphone do you use?
Pauline Soliven---------- Hi Pauline, Hope you are well. Thanks for your question. These days my favourite microphone in the studio is my Neumann U67. It works great on my voice no matter if I'm singing soft or if I'm belting it. I use it together with my Neve 4081 mic preamp which gives my vocal that legendary Neve character. Finally, my Universal Audio 1176LN keeps the vocal fat while gently compresses it. These units together makes my work so easy. It sounds great if I'm doing a quick demo but most importantly it sounds awesome when recording a final vocal on a Europe record. // Joey Tempest, Europe And Ian answered a question on Instagram: Who is your favourite drummer, and what is your favourite Europe song to play?
juhamakkeli6---------- It's hard for me to pick one favourite drummer since there have been many different drummer's who influenced me in different ways. Cozy Powell was definitely the one who made me decide to become a drummer after I heard him play on the album Rainbow Rising, and then live with Rainbow later the same year 1976. He's still a great influence to me today! Other drummers who influenced me are Ian Paice from Deep Purple. John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, Neil Peart from Rush and Bill Ward from Black Sabbath. Its impossible for me to pick one favourite Europe song to play. It varies from day to day! From a drumming point of view I really like Firebox, Love Is Not The Enemy or Scream of Anger. but I also love the energy rush you get from the crowd when we play The Final Countdown, Superstitious or Rock The Night! For the eighth week of Ask the Band, John Levén answered a question on Facebook: Hi guys! I was just wondering who initiated the band’s reunion and how it came about? Much love from the US!
Amalia Wright---------- Hi Amalia, After a 8 year hiatus for the band we got an offer we could not refuse, which was to play a couple of songs at Stockholm's celebration for the New Year Eve 2000 - the Millenium show. 350.000 people watching live and one billion viewers on live broadcast for TV all over Europe. That's when we started talking about a possible reunion. It took another four years but in 2004 the moon, sun and all planets were in the right position. // John Levén, Europe And Mic answered a question on Instagram: If you had to choose a producer that you have NOT worked with before, to work with in the future, who would it be?
lottalove62---------- Hi Lotta, I've always liked Brendan O'Brien's work as a producer and also the way he mixes. Doesn't matter if it's Springsteen or AC/DC, it all sounds fresh, in your face and alive. Mic Michaeli, Europe

For the ninth week of Ask the Band, John Norum answered a question on Facebook: Where does the inspiration come from for your solos?
Denise Toledo ---------- Hi Denise, To get inspired to play guitar solos you need to have a good sound to start with. If it sounds good you will play good, plain and simple. As far as writing goes, I always like to work out a melody for some of the more mellow songs because if doesn't have a melody it doesn't mean much. If it's a fast song I usually just like to go for it and improvise and whatever comes out that fits the song I will use. John Norum, Europe And Joey answered my question on Instagram! I read once that the the original length of the song "The Final Countdown" was 6 minutes, but engineer Bob Ludwig advised you to cut a part out of the song to make it just 5 minutes long. What did the cut part sound like? Did it have vocals or was it an instrumental part?
steinvidareurope---------- Hi Stein, Hope you are ok. Thanks for you question. Well, it’s probably a bit less dramatic than you think : ) When Bob Ludwig, Kevin Elson and myself were mastering the song in NY early 1986, Bob suggested the song could benefit from being a bit shorter. So we decided to fade the song a bit sooner at the end. We also took out a part just before the second verse. That would bring the song down to just over five minutes. If you listen to the original album version, the part between 01:18 and 01:26 is the same part as the one we took out just before the second verse. Although these edits most likely did not change the destiny of the song, I do believe it strengthen the song and set up the second verse perfectly by going straight into “we’re heading for Venus”.
