We are increasingly hearing and reading about the so called New Wave of Scandinavian Melodicrock and its true that there is a lot of good melodic stuff emerging from the north. Actually looking at my Spotify rotation I note that 50+% of bands are actually Scandinavian and even quite a lot from Sweden. Only recently already great releases from Dynazty, Heat, Nigh Flight Orchestra, Chronus, One Desire, Thundermother, Arctic Rain, GOK and Perfect Plan ( check out Give a little loving: OOTW meet PiP Europe with very Joey like vocal style).
What do they put in the water up there with so much great music emerging?! 😂🎶
It actually made me long back to a more melodic and positive Europe. Wouldn’t it be great it the next release would be a bit more upbeat and melodic? Don’t get me wrong, I love what these guys are doing and their return has been both smart and majestic. The last 2-3 albums strike a bit of a similar chord though and as they have always surprised us with new directions, i just thought they might as well reclaim the melodic Scandinavian throne for the next one! Times are dark and dire enough around the world, hope they use the tourless life to bring out some uplifting harmonies.
Just a thought. What do you guys think?
Take care, rock on, Alex

I agree, I'd like a bit more of a feel good album that doesn't sound quite as dark. Rumor is they want to use Dave Cobb again, and I guess that's okay, but I think we are going to get another WOK/WTE type album whenever it happens.
