I was listening to The Beatles' Abbey Road yesterday, and the final track ends very abruptly, followed by a short period of silence and then a few seconds of another song. I just remembered that Walk The Earth was recorded at Abbey Road Studios, so clearly Europe were referencing The Beatles by ending their album in a similar way. Did anyone else pick up on this? Or did everyone notice and thought it was so obvious it wasn't worth mentioning?

That's actually pretty cool. I'm not a Beatles fan so i didn't pick it up.

Hello and yes! I noticed that too and discussed the end of Turn To Dust with Mic Michaeli. He confirmed to me about having been inspired by The Beatles "I Want You/(She's So Heavy)" for that abrupt ending. And furthermore he was really moved by the fact that someone noticed it! This is what I wrote on Facebook when I came back from my trip to Chile in February 2018: ABOUT “TURN TO DUST” SUDDEN ENDING…(on the album) ️🎼️🎶️🎶️🎶️🎶️🎵️🎶️🎵️🎶️🎹️🎹️🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹 I have had a chance to chat with Mic Michaeli about Turn To Dust, as it was on my list of questions since the launch of the new album ☺️ I asked Mic whether he reminded an evening spent together with Michele from Brazil and myself in Santiago last year, when the Walk The Earth album hadn’t been published yet, but it had been already recorded at the Abbey Road Studios. We were "the 3 Mics” all together on that night at the Sheraton bar: Mic Michaeli, Michele and I (Michaela). Mic confirmed he remembered very well about that occurrence. 👌 We had asked him of course about the new upcoming album and he had told us that one of the songs had been entirely written by himself, music AND lyrics. After that, being Michele quite a good singer, she asked Mic whether he would be available to sing with her the back vocals to any song of his choice, with her singing the main vocals. Mic’s first choice was for a Beatles’ song, namely “I Want You/She’s so Heavy”. But as Michele wasn’t prepared for that, then they went for another Europe song together, which is a pity that I haven’t recorded… it has been an absolute highlight! 🤘 Anyhow, in the back of mind, a feeling had been left there on the reason why Mic had chosen "I Want You" in first place (right after having talked of his own song on the new album). When finally the new Walk The Earth album went published and I listened to Turn To Dust, then a lamp switched immediately on for me… that end of the song that happens all at a sudden it reminded me of some other song I had listened to in my life! And yes of course, it was “I Want You/She’s so Heavy” by The Beatles! And this Beatles’ song is part of the Beatles' “Abbey Road” album, nothing less!!! 💡 I have had to ask for confirmation to Mic this time… and he not only confirmed… he was almost brought literally to tears by having me noticing that detail! He absolutely told me that he was melted by having someone noticing the similarity between the two songs and that it had been done on purpose. Mic’s view of life being chaotic until a very abrupt end of it… he told me this is what he wanted to convey as a message, with Joey screaming in the background all type of things while the hypnotic music was going up and up to that final sudden stop! Exactly as it happens in life…😳 After that Mic and I talked about my Beatles background and their non official biography which I read years ago (the book title is "Shout")… I won’t ever forget these dear moments shared with him!
