Year 2004, after years of silence of the rock band that had changed the music world in the 80s with a planetary album that taught us a whole generation to love rock, they come back. Their fans were still there, what could we expect? It was not clear, continuity? evolution?
Europe returned with a renewed music, with a firm step but in a humble way with a wonderful album whose title was a metaphor of the situation that was lived. START FROM THE DARK is a solid album, very powerful with a heavier rock than what this band had us used to, ... but it was only the beginning, … the finalist songs from this second stage:

-FLAMES “…After just listening to the first 3 tracks (“Got To Have Faith”, “Start From The Dark” and “Flames”) it doesn't take you long to realize this is definitely a JOHN NORUM influenced release. His raunchy and powerful guitar is evident throughout the album and even through the more melodic songs like “Hero” and “Settle For Love,” his unique guitar styling steals the show. Not to take away from the vocal prowess of JOEY TEMPEST who doesn't miss a beat and sounds just as good now as he did 20 years ago … “ROCK EYEZ”

-NO STONE UNTURNED “…No stone unturned’ comes a little out of left-field with its eastern-tinged guitars and string section that brings into mind … “,”…. It’s an ambitious track and sees Joey intoning ‘I walk this earth until I stagger and fall to my knees’ over an eerie backdrop before the drums come pouring in to provide a rock-solid back-bone and John Norum outdoing himself while attacking his wah-wah peddle with some glee … “ SONICABUSE

-BAG OF BONES: “…The title track Bag of Bones has pretty much every good song element. It starts off with Joey showing off his vocal ability with a gentle and pretty guitar backing before kicking off with lots of drums and electric guitar…” THE STEEL REVIEW

-PICTURES “…The most interesting number on the new album is entitled "Pictures". At least I can't remember having heard a similar song from Sweden's finest. If you merge David Bowie and Pink Floyd you get close to what this song sounds like.
