Interview conducted with John Norum of EUROPE in Vienna, Austria, on 27 November 2017. We talked with John about the new album "Walk the Earth", recording at the Abbey Road Studios, his influences, forthcoming new solo album and gear. Thanks go to Ute Kromrey for making this possible.

I know, I found out today that the uploader has made the video private. It's a shame because it's a good interview. Hopefully it will be back soon.

Is it me or he is saying that with EUROPE things go too fast ?
I miss the old days when John Norum did solos like heart of stone , time has come , open your heart , In my time, last look at eden , maniac distortion , etc. very melodic and well built solos now it seems that he only plays random blues licks and fast pentatonics lines except for the solo for War of kings song or Walk the Earth and Whenever you are ready song.
What do you think?

What do you think? I also think that indirectly and probably without wanting to do it, John implies that with EUROPE the times are too much regulated, perhaps a very well-marked path for his taste. It is true that WAR OF KINGS will not be remembered as the album with the best and brightest John's solos, however I think Mic and his keyboards shine, it's okay, if you have a band where each member is able to be the protagonist in a different album implies that you have a lot of quality and you can use it, but I also think that maybe John has not been a big fan of that they limited his work to a certain and short time as they had to record the album in London studios, I guess that is where the band join and I suppose they put their ideas in common, maybe this time John has not felt too inspired. On the other hand I have to say that I have never come to understand the "times of John", I understand his talent, but regarding the time he has been announcing his solo album and that never arrives after 8 years from PLAY YARD BLUES, sometimes If you announce something with much anticipation and it does not arrive, people may lose interest. The same thing happened with his Instructional DVD ... too much time publicizing it. Well, things are like that.
