Hey guys.
There's a question that's been dogging me a little bit for a while now, and it has to do with all of EUROPE's first 5 albums that came out between the self-titled debut in 1983, and Prisoners In Paradise in 1991.
I dunno if you have the answer, Stein, but do you know who controls that part of EUROPE's music catalogue? I've thought for a while that EUROPE did, but given all the re-releases of material from those albums since 1993, when I believe they were dropped from Epic Records after going on hiatus on Mar. 15, 1992, I've wondered where the master international rights for those songs went to.
And, while I'm at it, who controls the rights to all of EUROPE's albums released from 2004-present?
Just looking to clear those 2 queries up in my own mind.
=P

I don't know for sure, but here's my guess:
The rights of the first five albums are owned by Epic Records (a record label owned by Sony Music). The rights of the post-reunion albums are owned by EUROPE who own a label called Hell & Back Recordings.

I think you are correct, which is why you see so many of the cheap, various greatest hits-type releases. Since Sony presumably has the rights to that music, they can put out whatever they want. I also got the impression from something Kee said in one of his recent interviews, where he or the reported talked about some of the OOTW/PIP era stuff and working on some of that.
