Stein, do you have plans to upload this on your youtube channel with english subtitles? I'm pretty sure that would be blocked at once if I tried to upload it, so I'm not going to risk it. However, I am working on a transcript (including translating the Swedish to English) which I will post hopefully soon.

I think it was a great special... with the guys talking so enthusiastically about TFC after 30 years!!!! I couldn't understand any single word but I caught well the general meaning of what they were saying... The part regarding Roxana (I was honoured to help SVT to find the fan to be involved in this project) is so vivid... you can see the excitement all over her face while she remembers the old times in her homeland and how it was difficult for people of our own age to access the music of EUROPE and not only... her story and all the others I collected made me understand that what I took for granted couldn't just be so for other fans of the band... I just loved this documentary!!!

New things revealed again:
Joey showed Norum what he wanted for the guitar solo, the chords and notes for the fast arpeggio part. Then Norum made it his way! But Joey came up with the idea.
Joey had written the synth theme, and later lent it to the disco at Bergans in Stockholm. I had the impression that they asked Joey to write something, and then he wrote that synth melody. But according to Joey in this TV show, he had the melody at home, and lent it to that place.
Joey wrote the lyrics pretty quick. When he should write them he put on Bowie's Space Oddity, and that inspired him to the lyrics. The second verse, "We're heading for Venus", Joey says in the show that he didn't even know if people could live on Venus. And then the line "maybe they've seen us". He remembers laughing to himself back in 1985 when he wrote the line, but decided to keep it.

I'm always curious about how that sort of things go or develop. I mean; 99% of the writing credits on the old albums are Joey's. So does that mean he wrote every part of those songs? Guitar solo's included? Because to me the guitarsolo (or keyboard solo for that matter) is an important part of a song. So if you write that part you would think that that person wants a writing credit (= money). I knew that Joey is a very good guitarplayer and now through this documentary we know that he indeed wrote all the solo's and showed Norum his idea's. And then let Norum do his own thing with it. Well at least for The final countdown we know now

Well at least for The final countdown we know now We only know that Joey showed Norum what he wanted for the fast arpeggio part. The notes/chords. Then Norum made it, and Norum also made the melody in between the first and second arpeggio part. As goes for the other solos on the album, I think they're plain Norum. They are more regular solos as opposed to the countdown solo which is pretty spectaluar

Okay but still; if Norum did write or compose big parts of the solo's why doesn't he get any writing credits? And to be honest I don't think the other solo's are that regular. The solo's in Rock the night for example are more spectacular or at least on the same level the The final countdown one. And the Heart of stone and Ninja solo's are also quite amazing. I do have to say that I'm no guitar player

What I find just purely amazing is you have to remember what age Joey was when he came up with this stuff. Just a kid really and he had all the amazing musical ideas and melodies already figured out. Same goes with Metallica with MOP, just music so beyond their years. VERY interesting to read here that Joey came up with the solo part. I kind of gathered something of a sort when watching the documentary but wow, what a talent.
