What was it like at the concert when you started to realise that was what was happening? The first thing that surprised me was when the crew prepared the stage after Tax The Heat had played. A crew member brought out Joey's microphone stand... But it wasn't the white microphone stand! The guy who stood next to me noticed it too and said, "That's not the white microphone stand!" So that made me a bit confused. But I had a feeling that Joey would just use that microphone stand for the other songs and bring back the white microphone stand for the TFC show, which he did. And then when the Europe concert started with the video screens which gave an introduction to the show and said something like, "Get ready to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Final Countdown! But first... let's show you the history of... War of Kings." And then John Norum and Ian showed up on stage, and they started to play the intro to "Hole in My Pocket" while Joey, John Levén and Mic showed up to complete the line-up. By this point I thought that they might play some songs from every album except TFC, so that afterwards they would play some songs from Bag of Bones, then some songs from Last Look at Eden, etc... But after they played "Hole in My Pocket" and "The Second Day", Joey said, "We're going to play the whole War of Kings album for you!" I finally realized what was going on. But I was confused that they started the concert with "Hole in My Pocket" and not the song "War of Kings". They also changed the order of some other songs, for example playing "Angels (With Broken Hearts)" in the middle. I guess they did those changes because they felt that would make the song order fit better for the concert.

I wonder if the other shows with follow the same pattern with playing all of WoK before the TFC? I'm sure it's their way of blending new with the old, but I would have liked to have heard that they played some other track from other albums that haven't been played ever or in a long time.

kat My pleasure. One thing I didn't like about the concert is that they cut half of the intro to "Cherokee". I think they've done it every time they have played "Cherokee" live this year. Here is a video to show what I'm talking about: The new intro just sounds weird. The gaps between the guitar/synth riff during the intro is half the fun of that song as it builds it up to when the drums come in etc so goodness knows why they cut it. Its boring as heck to play from a musicians standpoint but still. Maybe Norum suggested it so they could finish the song faster.

I found a couple of videos on YouTube with the full concert (one video for each album):
Part 1: War of Kings
Part 2: The Final Countdown
