It is the year of the 30th anniversary ... we have a thread dedicated to the songs, the music of that time (86) and our memories, but I've been reading some facts about the album that has written the press I'm not sure of its veracity but it is interesting to know.
This recent article on the 30th anniversary álbum TFC talks about curiosities and is full of them, said things like:
redhardnheavy.com/europe-celebraran-el-30-aniversario-de-the-final-countdown/
- Initially the album was going to produce Dieter Dierks, producer SCORPIONS usual at that time, with the collaboration of Bruce Fairbairn in the United States (then working with BON JOVI), which references were clear. Finally the band chose Kevin Elson, who had achieved great success with superbandas as JOURNEY or Lynyrd Skynyrd.
- They had to record the voices in two stages (and in two different studies) by a major cold Tempest delaying this part of the recording
- One of the most important reasons for the subsequent departure of John Norum band (apart from the fatal which led the successful start such a shy guy and withdrawn as Norum) is that it was very unhappy with the final result of the disk, the keyboards jutting above the guitars in his opinion.
- The single would be clearly "Rock the night", which was officially presenting the first song that came out sometime prior to departure full disc. But what things are, "The final countdown" that not even going to go on the record and intended to be used almost exclusively as intro of live concerts, finally was the lead single and also one of the most resounding superhits of the history of music (rock not only obviously)
-"Cherokee" was the last song they wrote for the album, just a week before started recording in Switzerland. And it stayed out the fantastic "On Broken Wings".
We can feed the post or clarify these statements, the press does not always tell the truth ...
