Dear Wings of Tomorrow Forum users ... this is the year of 30th anniversary of the wonderful album THE FINAL COUNTDOWN, for some of us the "album of our lives," I think we can celebrate in a special way on this forum and open some threads dedicated to the esential album for the music world. in this thread we can talk about the songs that compose it, what is our favorite one? The worse song (if there are any)? they are inspired? 1. «The Final Countdown» Tempest 5:09 2. «Rock the Night» Tempest 4:03 3. «Carrie» Tempest, Michaeli 4:33 4. «Danger on the Track» Tempest 3:45 5. «Ninja» Tempest 3:46 6. «Cherokee» Tempest 4:13 7. «Time Has Come» Tempest 4:01 8. «Heart of Stone» Tempest 3:46 9. «On the Loose» Tempest 3:08 10. «Love Chaser» Tempest 3:27
At the time The Final Countdown was the song I liked the album, I remember the thrill of hearing the first chords on the radio in the late 80s, but over time my favorite is ROCK THE NIGHT, is a song full of energy, it may not have the punch of The Final Countdown but is magical and after 30 years hasn't lost freshness. The rest is striking that there are two songs dedicated to societies or cultures of other times, exotic for someone living in Europe were Cherokee and Ninja. I've always thought that Ninja was influenced by (as I read) Joey attraction to Japanese culture, I think SEVEN DOORS HOTEL was very famous there and the band had a special relationship with this country. Does anyone know that there is actually behind NINJA?

LOVE all the songs, but when Time Has Come comes on, I fall asleep. But woken up again by Heart of Stone which is one of my all time Europe favourites.

Ninja: Eva I think you're right that there's not much else than it's a tribute to Japan for bringing Europe out there with "Seven Doors Hotel". If they liked 7Doors, then with a song about Japanese culture, there was a chance that Japan would buy 1.000.000 copies of the new album... that's my guess The Countdown song is of course magical, but the whole album has this amazing Tempest-melodic-1985-sound to it. There is an amateur recording on YouTube from a show in 1985 where they play a few songs that ended up on the album, and this period in Europe's career, and in Joey's life, was pure magic. I don't think they've ever recreated that nordic-melodic-melancholic-sound, maybe in tiny bits on OOTW, a few bits in the chorus on the song SFTD, and a few bits on WOK. Rock The Night never interested me on the record (live it's a killer!!) but Danger on The Track, Ninja, Cherokee, Heart of Stone, Love Chaser, wow these song are great. Can't wait for the shows in the fall and I really hope there will be a DVD recorded.

Hey michaeljessen, our common friend Mei recently asked Joey whether the TFC celebration shows will be recorded or not and he confirmed that they will record one of the shows for a DVD, even if it has not been decided which one yet...

Great news, Michaela! But I think Patric Ullaeus recorded a Wings Over Sweden show and as far as I know they didn't release the footage. I suggest they could add it as a bonus in TFC anniversary dvd About TFC album, at the beginning the only song I didn't like was Love Chaser but with time it became one of my favourites. My favourite song is TFC and my fave video Cherokee.

To my NINJA it is one of the best songs on the album, even above CHEROKEE ( michaeljessen I believe to remember that you really like Cherokee, right? ) and with HEART OF STONE are two of my favourite songs less known by the general public, but it is a pity. What exciting NINJA in live in November ! ...
