Sorry for the "little" delay to write my report about this wonderful show :
I have been sooo busy, and there was SO MUCH to say here !!!!
Yes, I had many things/feelings to share with you about this concert (except videos and photos, because I have none, as usual...But fortunately, other French fans made a good job .
); but I'm afraid I forgot some things, a month later.
Concerning the venue, it was full. Don't know if sold-out, but full anyway, because the husband of my friend Brigitte wanted to join us at the very last moment, but he couldn't.
As always in every show I've attended in Paris, it was a very mixed audience : old, young, men, women... But very kind people.
A lot of connoisseurs, too :
Because when EUROPE finished to play "light me up", there was a general ovation. I'm pretty sure many people didn't know the album "war of kings" ; like most of the time, they mostly knew TFC and songs from the 80s . But the performance of light it up was awesome ; so even if the song was new for them, people saw they were living something unique, and there was an acclamation.
Well, I must say, too, that before the show there was a special atmosphere, as it was practically one year after the tragedy of "Le Bataclan" (there were many commemorations 2 days before), and L'olympia and Le Bataclan are rather similar venues -although L'olympia is bigger.
So, difficult not to think about it...
That's maybe why, at the end of the show, Joey Tempest threw kisses to the audience and tell (with a perfect French accent !!) : "Paris je t'aime !".
Concerning the setlist now, it was just great. ALL WOK and ALL TFC : what a nice idea ! It seemed so new !!!!
(Do you know it was the very first time in my life that EUROPE didn't play "Last look at Eden" ?
)
The highlights were "Light me up" of course, but also "Cherokee" and "On the loose".
And finally I've heard "Heart of stone" !
The only little disappointment (very little indeed, because I was happy to hear it) concerned ... California 405!
Yes, in fact at the beginning, I even didn't recognize the song, as it sounded so differently from the album. Don't know what it comes from; maybe something in the rythm ; but the song was not as sublime as on the album.
It's something surprising because generally, Europe's songs are always greater live.
At the contrary, "children of the mind" is IMO the less interesting song of WOK, but live it sounded amazing !
