I love listening to Doghouse on the new album (and I've loved listening to it on the BluRay the past year as well), and today it hit me.. this is a TOTAL retrosong. It reminds me of bluesrock/swing from the... 60s? 70s? Kind of Elvis-like

Yeah I feel the same way. Like old time rock and roll, Europe style. I feel the same about Beautiful Disaster too, it's totally retro. Mic's back there banging on the piano and everything. At first when I heard these I didn't get it... but it has clicked, these are fun!

I am very open to all the kinds of Europe's sound, but I noticed this too and that's why I say that BOB includes all their past experiences and it's not just a sequel of LLAE. The way they have played Doghouse is very classic and solid rock, I like it even more than the DVD live version! ...of course Joey breaking strings of the guitar (twice?) and John N. and the others keeping along with guitars' solos, made the DVD version so special as well! Beautiful Disaster is fantastic, it has got all the sound and strength of their earlier tracks, with Joey's voice that drives you crazy when he sings "she's a disAster, baby...", he simply drags you with him!

Oh, I've finally got it, what Doghouse recalls me: Get Back - The Beatles ! That reminds also of that time Joey sang Get Back with Bon Jovi...and totally outclassed him! IMHO, of course

that time Joey sang Get Back with Bon Jovi...and totally outclassed him! IMHO, of course He outclasses him when he stands next to him and when he's far away. He outclasses him in walking down the street, in talking, in blinking, in smiling, in drinking coffee, in microphone stand manners, in making music, in dancing, in his hairstyle and could be a great actor too if he wanted to. Anyway. Doghouse sounds proud to me. The riff sounds like a tall cool guy walking proudly down the street. And then the lyrics are about always being in the doghouse, which is the exact opposite

Personnaly, I don't like the album version of Doghouse as much as I liked it live. Of course, that's a brilliant performance, as always with EUROPE But it's more levelled now, and therefore a bit weaker. The live version was a bit rougher, of course, but it had more strength. But it often happens with Europe that I like better the live version of a song... (which shows they are exceptional performers, because at the contrary, many bands are not as good live as on their CDs...)

I prefer the version of this song on the album, sounds great ... has an amazing pace, ... to me the whole album sounds great very clean, you can hear every instrument clearly and simultaneously impasted well with the rest of the band ... is a very good production.

I think 'Doghouse' has very much a 'live' feel to it, but maybe that's just because we have heard it played live already
