Was it supposed to be on the album "Prisoners in Paradise"?

Written during their time in Chile in 1990, and yes, one of the songs that didn't make it on the album. When it was released as a single for the 1982-1992 it actually was a great success. The song was "song of the week" on a huge Dutch radio station and was played at least ones per hour so that proves that Epic Records did a bad job on the product management of the Prisoners album

It's hard to tell if it was supposed to have been on the album.
It is very normal for bands to write more songs that end up on an actual album. Europe did the whole "Le Baron Boys" thing in 1990, where they recorded a lot of demo's of all the material they were working on. In LA they played a lot of new songs on the Whiskey-a-go-go bar under the artist name "Le Baron Boys"
Sweet Love Child is on the Le Baron Boys bootleg albums out there, so it was one of the songs written early on.
With all these songs, they went to the record company who told Joey to write another Final Countdown. He then went back home and wrote "Prisoners In Paradise", "Girl From Lebanon" (which I can't believe why it wasn't chosen as a single), and some more songs.

Personally I do understand why Sweet love child was left off the Prisoners album. To me it´s one of their weakest songs they ever recorded to be honest.

I found out about Sweet Love Child and Girl From Lebanon quite late, not until Europe got back together for the millennium show really and was blown away by both but especially Girl From Lebanon...that really should have been a single as I reckon at the time it would have been released, it would have caught on. Both those songs still feature in my top 10 list of Europe songs on my playlist in the studio when I want to listen to some good tunes.

SLC was one of the song written during the Prisoners sessions. The only reason I would think that it was close to making the album, is that there was a fully produced version ready for 82-92, where most of the other LBB tracks did not get back decent demos. There are a lot of great songs from those sessions that didn't make the album. No idea if there is a particular story behind SLC or merely fiction.

Six tracks were recorded and fully produced for the Prisoners album, but did not make it to the final tracklist: Break Free Here Comes the Night Long Time Comin' Mr. Government Man Sweet Love Child Yesterday's News

Are you sure about here comes the night and me government man? As far as I know they are the original demo's, but remastered and probably from a better source than the leaked Le Baron Boys.

Yes, I'm sure, at least about "Here Comes the Night". I've heard two versions of this track:
1. This demo version:
2. This version that's included on the Rock the Night: The Very Best of Europe compilation album:
In my opinion, version 2 sounds like it was recorded and fully produced for the Prisoners in Paradise album, unlike the demo (version 1).
