I have had the time of my life at the Ramblin' Man Fair!
Let's start from the fact that I have attended there for both days with my two daughters, who are much more "rockers" than I am... well, at least the eldest one is!!!
Checkin' out lots of Bands and surely there for EUROPE mainly!!!
A very special one, as they always feel and share that particular atmosphere of the “Cradle of Rock” and on a very special date too (I hate to mention private dates and occurrences, but it was Joey's second son birthday). No wonder he immediately left after the gig and didn't attend the Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake performance, he had very good reasons not to, living just a couple of hours away by car from the show!!!
Sometimes I challenge Joey on Europe's FB page, because I know he is directly taking care of that one, so I use to send my direct comments to him and such.
Here and there I also double checked with him whether he reads them or not, I never ask him directly, but I just repeat to him what I had previously written on there and he stares at me like saying: "Of course I know..."
Provided that, I had challenged him just a few hours before going on stage at RMF, predicting it would have been:
- short (I expected that, being a Festival with many acts),
- sweet (well, you always say "short and sweet", don't you?)
- and EXPLOSIVE!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I remember having written "powerful" at first, but then I thought that powerful had been used so many times before already...and I decided for “EXPLOSIVE”!
So maybe it's been just by pure chance or coincidence, but I have been too happy to hear the very same word - EXPLOSIVE - repeated by Joey in this interview soooooo many times!!!
They turned out ABSOLUTELY EXPLOSIVE, and way ahead much more "sacred" bands!!!
Even if I liked the show of Whitesnake on the very same night in fact, and even if I can't certainly deny David Coverdale's charisma, there's so much difference in the effective communication nowadays between David Coverdale and our frontman in EUROPE. Not that every people cares or notes, but I think the most sensible people do, that David Coverdale is quite "faked" in his interaction with the crowd and I noticed his smiles directed to the people over there going quickly sideway and down immediately after, like he was there just because he had to. And it's not only me, it's all over the place in the comments of the Ramblin' Man Fair FB page...
The sign to me that the more a frontman is true in his own communication towards the crowd and consistent with what he thinks and does, the more he hits the target. In this respect, the important thing is not that one stays there for the rest of the festival to watch the others, the important thing is to stay concentrated and have a heartfelt good time while performing on stage!!!
EUROPE performed incredibly well and yes, they have been EXPLOSIVE indeed!!! And all this in spite of a few technical issues they must have experienced in the middle of their show...
Likewise, I had predicted also about Joey's mentioning England as "the Cradle of Rock" during the show, which he did!!! And once more it looked to me like a direct answer!!!
This Band is just AMAZING!!!
And on a lighter note...
Joey: - "We could try... after the third song, we could... you know, put the <thing> forward..."
[yes, you understood correct, the "thing" is THAT "thing"]
Wyatt: - "People would be really taking a last look at Eden!"
Joey: - "Yeah, ya ya ya! So that, that may happen!"
I have had to laugh loud at this, when finally I have been watching this interview after a full week of work!
Well, it's Summer time, it's HOT guys, let's do it! As Ian says, why not?
