I expect from every headliner to play a decent (approx. 90 min.) set! No matter how many bands or which bands are also playing on the same bill. Let's hope it has something to do with a curfew in Dublin and that the problem is solved by the time they reach Londen.

I agree, 70 minutes sounds a bit rushed for a band with 10 albums under their belt. That said, Joey stated in an interview recently there are 'plans' for an anniversary celebration in 2016 to tie in with 30 years since TFC. So maybe there will be a proper headline tour in 2016??? Sorry but that doesn't have anything to do with this tour at all! I think if the above mentioned times are right it is a joke! With only 70 minutes they play the so called 'must play songs' (TFC, Carrie, RTN and Superstitious), 5 new tunes and then it's time to say goodbye...very bad if this is going to be true! Why the hell bother to let a third band play? Skip them and play a longer set yourselves I'd say.

New management and recordcompany are paying off so it seems! Good work and seeing Europe in 2 of the biggest newspapaers in the country reminds me a bit of the old days he he

Fantastic reviews! But in all honesty, I don't think it (War of Kings) comes close to their 80's releases! It isn't even their strongest effort since the comeback. Secret society still holds that title in my opinion. Don't get me wrong; I will support everything the band does but if you rank War of Kings with 10/10 what the hell would you give albums like Wings of tomorrow or The final countdown?? It looks like the reality is a little lost in there...

Nothin' to ya is the weakest song for me so far. It's not really bad at all but compared to the other songs it doesn't do it for me at this moment. There are some nice elements though like the keyboard parts and Joey's singing (high notes again!).

Next friday (february 27th) Joey will be interviewed about the new album on the Dutch radioshow 'Countdown Café' on Veronica radio. You can listen online at: www.radioveronica.nl/programmering/programmas/countdown-cafe It was a very famous radioshow in the 80's which lasted til 1995 or so until they pulled the plug. And now they are back by popular demand. The special thing about this show was that they used to broadcast (parts of) liveshows on the show. In 1989 they broadcasted 40 minutes of Europe live at Ahoy in Rotterdam. That was my first (Europe) gig ever. And as of today this broadcast is well known to Europe fans in the bootleg circuit. The live version from Let the good times rock on the Greatest hits 2cd album is also from this show. Last week they played the new single (War of Kings). So you safely can say that the dj's are really Europe minded. Back in the day and still today!

In an interview Joey says that he thinks Europe won't be playing a 2 hour set on the forthcoming UK tour. As it is labelled as a co-headliner thing he thinks that hearing two bands play for 2 hour after one another is a bit too much. Well mr. Tempest I don't know but you can never hear too much from (a) band(s) you've bought tickets for. Otherwise you wouldn't have paid the price to go and see them, right!? And with Black Star Riders as the other band it is no punishment to hear them also play 2 hours! The thing that concerns me is that Joey says that with 2 hour sets they are able to dig deep into their backcatalogue. So with a 1,5 hour set they skip the more obscure songs I'm afraid. Hope I'm wrong though!!

Children of the mind is another solid song. On first hearing it is not that special but this one has the attitude of being a real grower. It has that Dio vibe, slow and grooving. Let's see how this one develops after a couple of listenings... Edit: Sorry! I posted this in the wrong thread....again!!

War of Kings (the album) is album of the month in the Dutch metal and hardrock magazine 'Aardschok'! A very very good achievement and something to be proud of! As far as I can remember this is the first time Europe achieved this in the magazine. They get 87/100 as a score. Sorry, in Dutch for a second : Serieus?? Goeie zaak zeg! Top!! Ben vaste lezer, dus morgen de nieuwe maar even halen dan! Sorry, also in Dutch : Ja geweldig niet!?
