Ah, finally, some good reviews @ tomorrow, Yes I know, the writer doesnt know what he's talking about. There are 24 comments to his article on www.nu.nl (the first link in my previous post)....and he gets bashed pretty hard about it. Not really positive comments....trust me All i can say is that sometimes it was a bit "messy" in between songs, compared to other Europe concerts. Long breaks, silences, but looking back...i think that was all because of Norum being sick. Another video, here's Drink and a smile:

Just read another review where the writer mentions Norum being sick...and that they cut 5 songs from the setlist compared to the previous show. Did this ever happened before? I think not?.... So Stein, your short setlist above might just be the correct one. (Except Carrie was played before the acoustic part) And now that I think of it, I cant remember any other songs that they played. So yeah.... They got some pretty bad reviews as well by the way. One of them was really bad....and it's from the biggest dutch news site. Clearly, the writer doesnt know what he's talking about and knows nothing about the band. The headline says: "Europe shows that their days are starting to count". In other words: they are getting old. He also says that Joey is the weakest link in the band by far and that he lost his voice. He used to be right up there with Jon Bon Jovi, but now his voice has suffered some great damage. Also, Joey's micstand twirling was useless and Carrie was the writers highlight of the evening. Well, that says enough about the writers knowledge if you ask me. Here it is, in dutch though: www.nu.nl/muziek/2962554/europe-laat-horen-dagen-beginnen-tellen-in-013.htmlAnother one, not very positive as well. Sorry, youre right about Cherokee. I meant Heart of stone actually, since they played that one a couple of times earlier on this tour. Same goes for Ready or not. (Both played in Italy as replacements for other songs, but no replacements last night in Tilburg)
Carrie was played earlier in the set by the way, before the acoustic part.
I just read somewhere that Norum was feeling sick?.... Maybe thats why they cut the setlist short, cause they didn't even play for 1,5 hour.

Well, thats the strange thing. Somehow it felt like they cut some songs from the setlist...and they weren't replaced with other songs, except for Sign of the times. But there was no No stoned unturned, no New love in town, no The world keep on turning, no Girl from lebanon, no Doghouse. And no Cherokee also.

Yes they did! Packed house!! Not sold out, but close! Great show, solid performance, great response from the crowd, good sound, awesome lights. Well, just a great evening all together. No real surprises in the setlist unfortunately. Well, not to me anyway. They did play Sign of the times... Riches to rags: Carrie: Rock the night: Bag of bones: Eden: TFC: Open your heart: Scream of anger:

The link does not really back anything you say up IMHO. It's still a shit mix for that gig on that song. Well, then we just have different opinions on that subject. Thats okay, no problem. It's annoying, sometimes the mix is perfect, other times its lacking severely the depth that the keys provide. Norums muddy guitar tone is good for his solos (helped by playing a woody LP) but for some songs, along with the dropped tuning just makes it a muddy mess and a nightmare indeed for some engineer to make something out of. Sure, i can see what you mean. But it also has a lot to do with the design of the venue and it's acoustics. In certain concert venues it's almost impossible to get a good mix. Things can get muddy very fast. Maybe this was one of those cases.... Another thing. From all the bands i saw live, i think Europe is doing the best job on getting a good live sound. I've been to 6 shows since 2004, both indoors and outdoors on festivals. (will see them again next week by the way! ) But everywhere i went...their mix was always good. Clear, loud but not too loud, and all instruments very present in the mix. Maybe i was just lucky, but i dont think that's a coincidence. Have you ever seen them live so you could hear for yourself?
