Yesterday's News and In the future to come is our?  I remember when I first got to know other Europe songs besides TFC, it was through the compilation 1982-1992. ITFTC was the opening track, and YN was the closing track. I remember vividly that these two tracks took a long time for me to accept. I preferred every other track on that CD (except Sweet love child) before those two. But when I finally opened my eyes for these two, they became epic, and has been ever since. I had a similar experience with these two songs. I also discovered them through the same compilation and it took me some time to "understand" them too. Gotta say that Yesterday's news has only convinced me when the band started playing it live after the reunion. But they've never been in my top 10 (not even in the top 20, actually). Different case is Sweet love child. I loved it at a first listening but then I got tired of it very quickly. |

P.S. Are you happy with the result so far or have we already eliminated some of your favourites? I'm reading from the begining to decide about it. Fist fist in my facer: Little bit of loving, falled on the first round. UPDATE: Oh, my God. 2nd round result was devasting! Bring it all home, Mr. Government man, Bad blood, Drink and a smile and Run with the angels got out! (Anyway it was a killing group) |

I have to admit that my preferences are influenced by the feelings that many of the songs have provoked me live ...
-Stormwind Madrid 2014, the last time they were in Madrid  unfortunately not dated in the War of Kings Tour, really sad. It was a great concert, and this song very well received by people.
-Heart of Stone I would like that the band next year would do some concert playing the full album The Final Countdown for its 30th anniversary and enjoy of this song in live.
-More than meets the eyes I remember the band playing this song in Shepherd Bush (London), very excited, is not my favorite song OOTD, but has a wonderful keyboard and the chorus has a special bright, with that voices !
-Start from the dark One of my favorite Europe's songs, I remember a concert in Madrid in 2010, the band on stage playing the first chords of this song, very dark stage and a beautiful blue light illuminating the performance was very cool.
- Doghouse, London - Shepherd Bush, … Joey with his guitar in hand, wow … what a force!
- War of kings heavy, a bit dark ... a song in crescendo, there are people who would rather Days of rock'n roll as the first single, I don't, I think is WOK is a great bet ... I love it.
-Coast to coast  
And here I've doubted between Angels (with broken hearts) and No stone unturned both are in the same level for me, ... but the beginning of No Stone Unturned with Mic in his keyboard ... impressive, also was our winner in the last battle, and I have curious what happens with this song in this? Sooooo

Eva Tomorrow,  now you're more than an expert... you use also the SPOILER alert!!! More "Nothin' To Ya" or "All or Nothing" style   But I'll leave it for later on. I have really very busy days and I can't concentrate now on the description, but I have this gut feeling that watercolourgirl will surely be of help! I am having very unladylike snorts of laughter at Eva T's 'spoiler' ( Eva Tomorrow), Michaela Italy! Oh, I don't know if I should or not? I have been behaving myself - you recall the last time we got naughty in a different thread a few years ago? Poor Stein-Vidar had to remove an image of Joey with a stony appendage affixed to him and ban someone! And if you knew what I read recently about the Great Art Masters and their statues...it was offensive on a different front as well. And we wouldn't want anyone to think we have our Minds In The Gutter allllll the time.   It's only some of the time.

Poor YOUNG ONLY TWICE ... 
There is still time, the voting closes tomorrow Friday at 22.00 but I think it will be difficult to pass this phase ... so at least worth listening one more time ...

Hello friends! Here is my selection from Group G (always in the order provided by the contest): Stormwind: I bow to this song!!!! One of my all time fav from the entire EUROPE catalogue!!!!!  I think I wore out the tape and vynil on this point! I could listen to it for hours and never get tired! It's simply perfect and evocative in so many ways! I truly hope it will make it to the next step! Heart of stone: the guitar riff, the touch of the keyboards, the chorus make it tremendously catchy! It's the 80's and they are perfectly mirrored in this one! Do we need to say anything about how sexy Joey sounds when he says " heart of stone"? Coast to coast: another spectacular ballad... sorrowful and delicate like a few others... the guitar solo shows once more the mastery of Kee Marcello... Sweet love child: not so well known like other EUROPE ballads but I think it really deserves more! The crescendo at the end of the song is filled with pathos... marvellous! Start from the dark: I remember the chills running down my spine when I first heard this song at Sweden Rock Festival in 2004! THEY WERE BACK!!! "This song is about you, it's about us, it's about here tonight"... there's an entire world in these words: the long wait after the break, the never soothed hope of a return on stages one day, the indescribable emotion to see them again together in front of my eyes... Human after all: John's bass builds up the bases for a very fresh song! No stone unturned: sophisticated... divine Mic!!!! No more words are necessary! War of Kings: it's always a blind date when you are ready to listen to your beloved band's new album... I remember the moment when I got the new songs in preview and pushed the play button... what to expect? Heavy guitar riff and sound balanced once again by the keyboards and melodic lines and supported by the flawless rhythmic section... Yes, it's EUROPE to the fullest! |
