Hello dear Aphasians
, time’s up! The voting session for group E is officially closed.
Once again it’s been a beautiful battle. As usual we see some of our favourite songs going further and we lose some others for the rest of the game. The great thing with Europe’s catalogue is that it suits very well to this kind of game because of its very high quality. It’s very rare that I discard easily one song, most of the times I have to go back to my selection a second and even a third time. This is how it happens that in the end I leave out songs like Not supposed to sing the blues and I keep on feeling guilty about that...
Anyway, let’s take a look at the final standing of Group E:
Open your heart 15
Always the pretenders 15
The beast 15
California 405 12
Got your mind in the gutter 12
Hole in my pocket 10
Carrie 9
Treated bad again 8
Tower’s calling 8I’ll cry for you 7
Children of this time 6
A long time comin’ 6
Requiem + My woman my friend 5
Not supposed to sing the blues 4
Song #12 1The first seven songs go directly to phase two.
On the top of the ranking, with the same amount of votes, we find three great songs, among the most loved by the fans. Then there’s California 405, also one of the most appreciated from the last album and Mind in the gutter, the second song from the Prisoners album to get to the final 64. Finally Hole in my pocket that gathered the access to phase two for just two votes and Carrie saved just 15 minutes before the bell by
jarkam (I think that all the Carrie fans feel a bit in debt with you...). This is what I mean when I say that every single vote is important!
Then we find two songs with 8 votes. They will go to the limbo and will join with Children of the mind, Broken wings and maybe other songs in the extra group that will be examined at the end of this phase.
I feel very sorry for all the songs that didn’t make it. For I’ll cry for you (a title and a sign) that is out of the limbo for just one vote (did I already say that one vote can change everything?) And even for the poor Song #12, that even if neglected, has some qualities and I’ve always looked at it as the seed from which the Secret Society album is actually born.
Next group!
Group F:
In the future to come
Wings of tomorrow
Cherokee
Never say die
Sign of the times
Yesterday’s news
Homeland
Prisoners in Paradise
Sucker
Forever travelling
Brave and beautiful soul
New love in town
Bag of bones
Beautiful disaster
Light it up
Wow, Group F...only three more groups to finish the first phase. And another interesting group. There are some songs that have been intensively played live since the reunion. Will they pay a fee for that? And the songs that have been neglected live by the band, will they be awarded by the fans?
Now, you have often heard me recommending to listen to all the songs of the group again because it makes the choice easier...well, sorry, I lied. It actually makes it harder, but do it just the same, it’s a very good food for your ears (here’s the usual playlist:
Ok, finally, here’s the deal.
Choose your favourite eight songs from the Group F. Take your time but do it
within next Monday, the 26th October at 22.00 CET. Do you want to explain what’s behind your choice? Great, we all find it very interesting because talking of Europe music is for us like talking about ourselves. And we love it.
Do you prefer just to vote: absolutely great, go for it, we are very curious to know which are the most loved songs.
