He may also be trying to stretch his voice a bit knowing that they will do the TFC anniversary shows at the end of the year. Sometimes, songs don't sound as good musically when not in the same key, so maybe it's his hope to beef the vocals up even more than usual to pull of some of the tracks from TFC that they haven't played in 20+ years. Just a thought. That's a good thought, actually. In a way this could be a rehearsal for the TFC anniversary shows. Just imagine: Joey singing the full TFC album live in the original key and tuning, 30 years after the album's release!

Yes! What I can't avoid missing, still, is John Norum (the layers and feeling he brings to these songs...) I just listened to TFC from Munich again and I keep getting impressed by Joey's vocals. But as for that guitar solo... No offense to the guitarist in the backing band, but he is no John Norum.

Here's a clip of "Ready or Not" from the Munich concert: Special thanks to Eva Tomorrow for sharing this with me! Hm shame the intro isn't in this clip. I wonder if it's the original drum intro or the one the band uses since the reunion. But thanks for the clip!

May be I'm getting carried away for the comments which are feeding this thread but every time I see a new video of Rock Meets Classic I am more convinced that Joey's voice is sounding better here than it has in the last years with Europe. It may be a matter of tonality, which is here higher, or as he sings 6 or 7 songs per night he risks more, I don't know, ... but he is sounding really great.

Best TFC vocals ever since 2004 for sure, but maybe even better than on some 1986-1992 shows. What do you think? And no Eva Tomorrow, you're not getting carried away. It IS better than the last years with Europe. Way better! Some new videos, Stuttgart show. Days of Rock 'n Roll is also in the original key of E!

Here's a clip of "Ready or Not" from the Munich concert: Special thanks to Eva Tomorrow for sharing this with me! Boy that is a HIGH song to sing properly, I would say it is at the sort of acceptable limit of what he could do now days live but MAN, exceptional stuff, I so gutted I have missed seeing these songs live like this. Yes the drum bit in TFC and the guitar solos are a bit errrrr... off. This would be one HELL of a concert if we had the full band playing with the orchestra AND the backing vocalists. Hint hint Europe if you are reading this... Do these sort of shows and I would gladly pay to follow the tour every night. The Final Countdown vocals are sounding better than many of the late 80s and early 90s shows for sure! Amazing really all considering! I'm convinced the whole E tuning has something to do with the orchestra more than anything else but one does hope TFC tour might be in E.... here's hoping. I have the BIGGEST smile on my face when I see those vids of TFC in the original key. So happy. A small and insignificant thing, but love how Joey runs up to the drums to rock out during the guitar solo in the Stuttgart gig just like he does in TFC vid.His vocals at that venue are phenomenal.

I also think it's because of the orchestra. Cant think of anything else. You know what would be perfect? (Also for Joey ) Why not play all TFC songs during the tour in original tuning, and the rest of the show like they always do: down tuned. We know now that Joey can manage 6 songs in E tuning, I think he can do 10 as well Just a thought. And yes his vocals at the Stuttgart show are phenomenal indeed! Got the same big smile on my face as well. Who would have thought??... Here's another one from that show:

Hi Guys! finally I can write a few notes here, after Eva Tomorrow invited me in the past days, but unfortunately travelling first and back to the office afterwards, left me no space for comments here... It's a pleasure to read all these good comments on Joey performance! He is AWESOME in this run of gigs and if something has to be said against, it is in regard to the Orchestra IMO, because in some cases like TFC intro, it is not possible to replicate the power that EUROPE use to deliver! Nevertheless as you have already underlined, in other cases the Orchestra and the vocalists of the chorus have created a magic atmosphere! So definitively kudos to them!!! Joey has had huge competition there, particularly by Midge Ure. This man has a powerful voice and he is particularly worshipped in Germany. When I got a chance to talk to Joey he asked me a feedback about the show and I told him that they started on the first two nights as individuals and from the third night on they have been capable to create more of a team and an amazing mix! I must go now... still very busy and I wanna leave again to RMC from Ingolstadt on next week, so I post my videos here and see you soon! Superstitious in Kempten (already posted by Stein before, please feel free to do it whenever you want when I am travelling and can't post the videos myself!) Days Of Rock 'n Roll in Passau: And a heartfelt interpretation of Carrie in Munich, staring into my camera in the end!

It would be very interesting to know the feeling of Joey about his voice on this Tour, if he really feels that is sounding better that with EUROPE and what is the reason? Maybe for time to rest, for the support of the orchestra and chorus, he has spoken in some interview that care his voice, is very disciplined, certainly so, is possible that for this Tour it has prepared in special form. Anyway, I always liked that support Joey on vocals, is something that EUROPE has been eroded over time, I think it would be good that the voices of Norum and Mic e.g have a greater presence live. There are songs on the album have wonderful choirs (brand EUROPE) as "More than meets the eyes" and "Ready or Not" but in live don't sound like that. Now the expectation is greater for listening to live TFC Album Thanks Michaela Italy for your videos and feedback
