"Nothin' to ya" is a bit of a teaser song, don't you think? Playing cat and mouse... I would reeeeaaaaally like to ask Joey about this lyrics but I know soooooo well that he will never ever answer this one! LOL! Of all the streets Of all the days You just had to invade my space Of all of the rules Of all my claims Desire just had to be made on you Oh c'est la vie If you swear that I mean nothin' to ya Hand on heart - no, I can't do it for ya But if you're lying I'll be comin' for ya If you swear that I mean nothin' to ya Of all the lows Of all my highs I just had to, had to make you mine Of all the words Of all our fights It became the best years of my, the best years of my life Oh, c’est la vie If you swear that I mean nothin' to ya Hand on heart - no, I can't do it for ya But if you're lying I'll be comin' for ya If you swear I mean nothin' to ya If you swear I mean nothin' to ya There's nothing I can do for ya If you're lying I'll be comin' for ya… If you swear that I mean nothin' to ya Hand on heart - no, I can't do it for ya But if you're lying I'll be comin' for ya Can you swear I mean nothin' to ya I mean nothin' to ya Ok, I too am curious about the lyrics of this song ... but what is exactly the meaning of "Nothin' to ya" ? My translator gets a little crazy ... I do not really know the meaning of the phrase ... Michaela friend, please tell me in Italian, I think I could understand it better! LOL

Hello Eva Tomorrow, well probably the translator goes crazy with "ya" that actually is the slang for "you". Joey is playing cat and mouse with a mysterious girl here (who can't be the wife by the tone of the song) saying that if she says he doesn't mean anything to her, then he can't do anything for her, but if she's telling lies, then he would go for her, asking her to swear whether he really means "nothing" to her or not. Have I confused you the more? In Italian: "Se mi giuri che non significo niente per te, allora non posso fare niente per te, ma se tu stai mentendo allora verrò da te... puoi giurare che non significo niente per te?"

Gracias / Grazie / Thanks !! Ok, now I see, very interesting point, yeah ... I don't see to what extent the lyrics should be based on own experiences, probably is not necessary, and he also may be able to draw on past experiences, or people close to him as family or friends, ... The lyrics of this song is somewhat disturbing, but he is a frontman of a rock band so his lyrics have to play even provoke in somehow ... Though is clear Joey has changed , he said in 80s to a woman : "when lights go down I see no reason for you to cry" and now says things like these : "Of all of the rules Of all my claims Desire just had to be made on you Oh c'est la vie"

Good point, Eva Tomorrow! But would you prefer a Joey saying "sorry girl, you know? Things have changed, maybe we'll meet somewhere again..." or a Joey that can't resist you and chases you like this? LOL! I'd go for the second of the two! OK, just kidding! I think the lyric is personal and he will never give explanations about that one. Each of us has got his/her own secrets and secret messages, even the most "home&church" of a man... I don't think he needs to be justified for it, it rather makes him more human in a way, even if the most devilish explanation was true, which I am not necessarily saying it is! For sure this is somewhat in line with being the frotman of a rock band, and what a frontman! I think it will work very well to conquer the US again!

Thank you for the lyrics Michaela Italy. From a musical point of view, this song is not my favorite : probably the less interesting I've heard. But, the lyrics are great because they are mysterious. I like the French words "c'est la vie" (that's life) : funny, because I'm claiming for some Swedish words in one song for a very long time ; and instead of Swedish words, there're words in my own language ! Concerning the meanings, JTempest told in many recent interviews that he doesn't want to explain the lyrics ; sometimes, there're just words without real meaning (like in modern poetry,in a way...).Some other times, they are related to his own life... So, we fans just have to speculate about it -which we are doing with a great pleasure, actually !!! One thing is sure : there's no fan here that dare say Mr Tempest means nothing to us !

LOL! I'd go for the second of the two! I also the second one! About any frontman of a rock band we can presume his dark but attractive side not only for women but also for the society in general, an attitude more fresh, somehow they can show that wild part that we all have, they are able to leave the circle of comfort in which we all live with their music, in concerts, ... but this man is also an icon of a generation in 80s, probably this part of him is not what most he likes but I think he is able to write songs for other 10 albums only feeding on his own experiences lived.

I've seen that members have posted threads about the lyrics to some of the songs on War of Kings. I think it would be better if they were merged into one thread, so that we could have all the lyrics in one place. What do you think, guys?

WAR OF KINGS Here is the revised version of the lyrics, still NOT OFFICIAL, that watercolourgirl and I have been discussing after having listened to the song downloaded from iTunes and the input from various people from different groups, including this forum. WAR OF KINGS - NOT OFFICIAL LYRICS...JUST FANS MUSING OUT LOUD A promise on the edge of madness A Northern mourns the world of men (still not 100% sure) Gonna drive them into exile Or never let them breathe again On that night, under the raging Northern sky The seeds of legend lie Slaughtered almost to a man The War of Kings began In a land thrown into darkness An army would arise The heathens died laughing At the king's men, heads borne high On that night, under the raging Northern sky The seeds of legend lie Slaughtered almost to a man The War of Kings began On that night, under the raging Northern sky The seeds of legend lie Slaughtered almost to a man The War of Kings began The War of Kings began The War of Kings began Here the notes from watercolourgirl: This is an updated *speculated* version of what some of us think the lyrics are for "War Of Kings". I think our original thoughts have been shared to fan pages/groups and I really want to stress to those reading this -- these are NOT OFFICIAL lyrics. We probably won't have the official lyrics until we read them in the album's liner notes - assuming the band stays true to form and includes them, as they have in the past. If someone out there is hearing something totally different lyrically, please join in this thread and give us your thoughts!
