Sorry been away so forgive me. So great to hear aphasia again! Tell me, is that THE Final Countdown a Stratocaster or no? In Stockholm, Norum used his 1965 Strat that was used on the wings/on the loose tours 1984-1985... and was used to record the whole Countdown album. It's NOT the one you see on the Solna DVD or Countdown tour, I have that guitar. In Umeå, Norum took out another Stratocaster looking like something from the 1970s (big headstock, bullet truss rod). I have never seen Norum with this guitar before and have asked his guitar tech Peter for any details/history, but haven't received any reply yet. Edit: Now the answer; In Umeå, it was a reissue 1972 Strat with Fury pickups. Actually I can tell you that the Countdown tour strat also is a 1972 reissue ) edit 2: In Stockholm, Norum used 2 Fenders. One was his 1965. The other was a reissue 1962 that he got from Gary Moore.

Cheers for the answers. The Umea show was what made me wonder as I saw he had that 72 reissue which looked a lot like that Countdown strat. Still cool to see him use an old one with the big old headstock. Have you got any pics of the Countdown strat that you now own? That guitar is pretty much the reason I started playing a strat back in 1986/87. All I have ever owned have been cream or white strats, never one from the glory days of the 70s but mostly re issues or frankenstratocasters I have built using a Fender body and an older neck.

Just got home from a AWSOME Europe gig in Luleå! They gave it all and then some extra! Joey was on fire! Good crowd! Same setlist as in Stockholm and Umeå. Photos comming later. Videos from Luleå in our Youtube chanel. www.youtube.com/user/Annisson/videosSorry for the shakey videos but this time it was time for MR PA to rock and enjoy the gig proper!

BREAKING NEWS: just seen this status update on Facebook from Patric Ullaeus " Packing my bags - leaving for Sundsvall to film Europe's WINGS OVER SWEDEN "ALLRIGHT!! Good stuff! I was afraid they were not gonna film it! But luckily they are! Judging by the youtube videos and peoples reaction who saw the show....this must be one hell of a gig indeed. It's also funny, for example, i never really liked Dance The Night Away. I thought it was "okay", but not more than that. But all of a sudden....i like it! I think this 2014 version sounds awesome. Wasted Time and Treated Bad Again are also my favorites. Been waiting so long to hear these songs... And I'm also rally siked about Norum playing a Strat again! Classic Europe sound = with a Stratocaster. Guitarists will understand what I mean All together, I think this whole project is bringing nothing but positive things: playing old songs and John telling us he will be playing the Strat again. Yeah, good times! Cheers everybody!

Joey mentions an incident in Luleå on Europe's Facebook page:
THE FINAL BREAKDOWN!
LULEÅ!
Great to be up north in Sweden again! Fantastic crowd! We really have some friends up here!
My heart goes out to my "brother" and fellow bandmember John Norum. For the first time in 30 years he couldn't play the FINAL COUNTDOWN guitar solo during the show!!! The Tubes in both his amps blew out just before the FC solo! Well it's gotta happen sometime! And now it has!
But these odd things make people remember shows, that's how it is for me. If I go to see a show and something out of the ordinary happens. It sticks in my memory forever.
Hey!....."a canceled guitar solo is also a guitar solo"
Meeting up with John this morning he's smiling.
It's only rocknroll......On with the show!
Sundsvall next!
