! The time for voting the songs of Group H is now expired. This group closes our Phase IV since we have at last completed the list of the final 16! Here´s the result of the Group H:

. The two ballads stop their run just here with Tomorrow that got very close to the tie break but, once again, just one vote made the difference.

Bag of bonesOk, before my usual considerations, I take a moment to say that seven songs got very close to be saved, since they stopped just one vote behind the ones that actually made it. I think it’s fair to sum them here since it’s only for a chance that they’re not in the final 16. These songs are:
Devil sings the blues, Riches to rags, Rock the night, Start from the dark, Heart of stone, The beast and Tomorrow. If we made a final 23 they’d be probably in!
I repeat here my usual disclaimer to put it all in the right perspective: 1) The songs were grouped almost randomly and this means that maybe different groups would have given different results. 2) The moment and the mood play a decisive role when it comes to make this kind of choices. Maybe in two months the result could be different. 3) The final selection is an average opinion of the voters. Each one of us has probably a slightly different idea. None of us will completely agree with this selection, but this is what we’ve chosen as a community. 4) It’s important to remember that this game has the main purpose to entertain people by playing with the music of our favorite band.
Let’s go for some statistics:
It’s nice to note that, even in the final 16, all albums are still represented!
I think that this is not so common. Any band has sooner or later released an underwhelming album (Queen’s Hot space and Scorpions’ Eye II Eye, just to name the first ones that come to my mind). The result of this poll confirms that, for us, any Europe album has something that makes it worth to be checked out. And this is quite extraordinary for a band that is mostly known for one single album (or maybe even for one single song!)

The most successful album is still LLAE: it lost a couple of tracks in this Phase, but a quarter of the final sixteen are still from the “apple” album. The rest of the songs are very balanced among the other albums. And the balance is even more evident when it comes to the era: we have exactly 8 songs before-the-break and 8 after-the-reunion
. If it is done on purpose it implies a psychic connection among the users of this forum even stronger than what I expected! We’re way beyond the supernatural…
But, what represents this list? Is that a greatest hits compilation? A dream set-list?
Well, I like to see it in a different way. For me this is a good advice from the die-hard fans on which Europe tracks should be checked out by someone that has maybe heard only one (guess which?), and wants to know more. So, dear web surfer occasionally landed here, if you ask us which are the best Europe songs we’d probably say that any song deserves to be checked out. But, if you insist, well, this list is a pretty good way to start. Enjoy the travel!
Good, that was it. What happens now? In the next Phase V the surviving songs will be coupled to face each other directly. So we will have eight matches and, when the dust settles down, there will be only eight songs. If you want to participate to the draw you should take a look here:

In the next Phase you’ll be asked to pick only one song per couple. It won’t be hard…it will be impossible! The last Phase showed that we’ve already reached the point where the songs have more or less the same value to us. So, it doesn’t make so much sense to go on… On the other side there are still a few days before the 30th anniversary DVD is released and if you need a diversion, if you like to challenge yourself and, last but not least, if you still enjoy, well, keep on voting
. It will be funny to see what happens!
