Here's a fantastic video : a sum up of things that happened to EUROPE in Bulgaria, as it was told on Bulgarian TV:
But most of us don't understand what they say... which is a pity, -especially as they are laughing a lot !
So, Rosi Clair , who is Bulgarian, kindly translated it for me, and she allowed me to share it with you. And it's worth knowing it because it's funny, indeed !
(Clair, if you're reading this : a HUGE THANK YOU ! )
Here's what she said :
"I will try to give you a summary at least.
It was a funny report/interview mostly.
The journalists were not very competent and the woman interviewer asked silly questions sometimes, so I guess the guys decided to joke a bit. []
At first John Leven's favourite bass was lost during the change of planes for a connection flight in Vienna and he was joking that there would be no concert if the bass isn't found and delivered in time.
Some bilkers on motorcycles met the guys at the airport in Sofia and took them to a restaurant in a nearby town where they were entertained (not so much it seems to me) and also had to listen to trashy popfolk music (that they show in the report), besides the authentic folk music that the newspaper reported about... Obviously the tv reporter wanted to exploit the trashy aspect and on the next day she asked them if they liked the music. John L. said that he was too drunk to remember and Mic said that he thought the music they heard the night before was fantastic... (Now the general viewers think that Mic enjoyed the trashy music that is not even Bulgarian, but oriental... grrrr).
They talk about how things have changed since the 80s here and what they have heard about their popularity in Bulgaria and the other countries "behind the iron curtain".
TFC bla bla bla, was part of the changes.
How have their female fans changed since then?
Ian joked that they got older and saggier and even uglier.... lol he said he was only joking and then Joey said they are prettier than ever, and that with the latest album they've reached a new audience.
And are there groupies following them on tour?
No, they'd used them all up in the 80s. LOL
Who was the craziest fan that scared them?
Joey said it was someone from South Europe who broke into a neighbour's house thinking that it was Joey's house... John Leven joked that it was probably someone from Bulgaria... haha
How long do their concerts last usually?
Joey: about 1:45 h, depending on the mood, or if they would improvise, or perform striptease...
Oh, striptease?
Joey: Now she woke up! Look at that! []
In the end there was a show and John Leven played his favourite guitar. "
