There have been concerns raised on this forum about joeys voice not always being on top form, hardly suprising considering the number of gigs they've done over the last 5 years! Maybe it would be good for them to have sort of a year off in 2013, maybe just do a few festivals, before they hit the studio in mid 2014 feeling refreshed? Hi paulw, IMO, if they stopped now, even for just one year, they would throw away what they have built so far with so much dedication and efforts as well. Joey's voice is good enough to win over the majority of others! I think they know they cannot reach that explosive success they had in the 80's anymore, because only very young bands can aim at that. But then these young bands should prove to resist for more than one or two records. Europe have built up and grown up in a steady and consistent way. I don't personally think so many bands succeeded in doing the same...but if you stay out for a while, then you don't know if you can get in again! And who better than Europe themselves know this lesson? I agree : they MUSTN'T stop now, or else they'll loose all the benefits of their hard work. Personnaly, I think JTempest managed to keep a good voice during the whole tour this year; better than in previous years. Remember the ballsn banners tour : he could barely sing in the show they recorded at Shepherds bush..! It didn't happen this time : he stayed very good until the end. It's true that they have to take some rest, of course. But not stopping a whole year. BTW, they need money, don't they ? And no concerts, no money for recording new albums...

I wasnt sugesting they should stop, Since LLAE the ball hasnt really stopped rolling for them, so there was no real break between tour/album like there was between SS and LLAE, but thats a lot of work for them, and now towards the end of this tour its starting to show a little, like it did on the balls n banners tour. I'm sure they'll reach a compromise that will please the fans while giving them a chance to have a bit of a rest too

One thing that made me smile but I enjoyed so much because "it's human after all" was the start of Riches To Rags in Gothenburg...Joey missed the "never getting back to the start" and he tried to recover by singing it faster at the very beginning of the song... Itº normal that after so many shows Joeyº voice is not in good condicion, and btw. in Scandinavia is pretty cold weather.Itº also affects. In UK tour he sounds great in my opinion. They need a little rest and averything will be fine again. They must go on next year, to continue their work and Joey will already know how to keep his voice in best shape

That song was played through the speakers in Los Andes, too. I remember I thought: "you can't finish such a powerful show with such a song!" LOL

My second tale of my great swedish adventure concerns Goteborg. After the gig three of us – all Italians – met with Ian Haugland outside the venue. One of us had not had dinner nor launch that day, so we were looking for an open restaurant to eat something, but unfortunately the majority of them close before midnight and it was already midnight. So Ian offered to find a place for us, not far away there was a McDonald’s open 24/7 and we all went there. Along the way he asked for direction to a girl who answered him without recognizing who he was… I was commenting with the others…how can it happen that she doesn’t recognize him? Come on, are we in Sweden or not?!! But when we seated at a table at McDonald’s then from time to time some guys came over to greet Ian and to tell him he was the best drummer in the world! We have had some very nice chat also about the old days! Ian stayed with us up to 5 in the morning, when he had to join the tourbus leaving for the next stop of the tour… What an experience! But I can’t say more about the topics of discussion we’ve had for privacy reasons, even if Ian is a very open guy and very friendly with all. I can only tell you that I mentioned Stein’s forum and he acknowledged the fact that they know that many of their hard-core fans joined this forum after the closure of the official one, so this site here is well known by the band as I suspected already…!!! So many thanks to Ian for his precious time and company!

Great story How did you arrange that meeting with Ian? Can't you share some good stories from the old days? What did he Think of the fact of this forum's existence?

Great story How did you arrange that meeting with Ian? Can't you share some good stories from the old days? What did he Think of the fact of this forum's existence? You must know michael, that one of the other two people with me was a long-term fan since the 80's and she had a contact (which I don't have, btw) to advise we were outside... Then Ian spontaneously offered to stay with us for dinner. A good story from the 80's? Without putting Ian in some troubles? Hahahaha, uhhmmm, let me think. Well, yes I can probably share this one. Do you remember that scene in the "Europe in America" footage, where Ian is calling on that WAY TOO BIG (for nowadays standards, LOL!) cellular phone? I am afraid that call was ehm... a littel bit faked...yeah, it was not a real call but he just pretended to call home! Third point, about the forum, well as I said I hadn't had to explain too long what I was talking about...he knew about this place here and he understands our needs. It looks like this is probably the best solution to save the needs of the band to push more on the social networks and at the same time to preserve the possibility for us to have this different tool to express our opinions and such. Please don't get me wrong, he didn't say all this, that's of course a mix of his words with the rest of his "body language" and such. So it's my interpretation of it! But I clearly received a confirmation of what I thought already!

Another thing that came to my mind about the talks we had with Ian. I told him that it had been nice to see Joey presenting on stage John Leven for instance in one occasion during the swedish leg of this tour and Mic Michaeli on another... and that it could be good in this period of celebration to resume the habit to present every single member in the band, like they always did at the beginning. I know they are all very famous, but just to give each of them a spot in the show. Ian commented it was a good idea and that he would have reported this to the others , probably not the case to perform any drum solo anymore, but a shorter bit from each of them it could be a good idea to resume.
