I LOVED hearing "Open Your Heart"! The last time they played that song was in 2015! Me too! I feel like it's one of their songs that has taken on such a life of its own. The WOT version, then the OOTW version, and the current which I feel is like this great combination of both versions.

The way they played it in Chili was really good! Hope they play it more often.

Boy, this gig was awkward! I had a feeling like I have traveled 30 something years ago in the past and something went horribly wrong - with all the kitsch stuff from the hosts, and (sadly, I have to say) the audience. Aside from the fact that it was getting late, late in the evening (pun intended ), they seemed to react only to a few songs from the past that were stuck in their heads. I was really set off by their beat skipping when they sang along with Joey, not to mention the awkward camera shots from the director, mainly focusing on a few people from the crowd. Next come the technical issues (I know it happens, it's only RnR ), and the award 'ceremony'. Jesus Almighty, did Joey felt uncomfortable during those couple of minutes! Maybe it's a big thing for them, but I think the band should've been awarded post-show, that way they wouldn't have interrupted the flow of the gig; I think the band felt the same. On the bright side, I really enjoyed hearing the new tracks from WtE live, they felt gigantic and proved to be a serious ass stomp. Maybe it's too early for them to catch on to audiences like this one, but it would be a shame for this album to go unnoticed around the world (not that the band hasn't picked up a few awards for it already ) Last but not least, I didn't want to offend anyone from Chile/South America with this opinion on the gig, people only want to have fun, that's for sure. I just think people over there need to shift from the 80s gear they've been stuck in. It's over, it's been done, you now have a fantastic band who's getting better over time

Again I don't want to upset the south American fans but that was completely unnecessary and looked uncomfortable for the band! Watching the video felt like I'd stepped back in time 30 years only in HD.

I would think that it's a bit annoying of them to have to stop the show for things like that...It sort of brings the high they and fans are on to a immediate halt. Also, when the hosts start speaking in Spanish, obviously the band doesn't really know what's being said, so I would imagine it's uncomfortable.

The performance of the band was great, as usual ^^. The new songs were completly outstanding. The beginning of Walk The Earth just blowed my mind. Still good to see them

Yay, 'Ready or Not'! I'm always happy to see that one make the set-list

Here is a pretty cool video that synchronizes TFC from Viña del Mar 2018 with TFC from Viña del Mar 1990 (the second night).

This is my own video excerpt - I have shortened here my video which included up to Ready Or Not - and my absolute highlight from the Festival in Viña and the overall trip to Chile. I share this with you as it’s about music, but this is even very private at the same time. So let’s see how it goes here… I had shared with Joey my personal story about Open Your Heart sometime ago. It happened that because of the voting sessions on the Wingsoftomorrow forum, I posted a very high-level summary of that story in the last days. I also had shared before that video from Viña del Mar in 1990, with Europe performing Hound Dog, a cover from Elvis. I have had to discuss with fans that no comparison with Elvis was intended. Just meaning that Joey is very well entitled to sing classic Rock ‘n Roll songs, because he has the charisma, the voice and the grit. No many other singers nowadays can afford to sing Elvis’ songs with such high-level performance Imagine what happened then, when during the show in Viña 3 days ago, Joey went with “Can’t help falling in love” from Elvis to introduce that they would like to play “a song that has been requested” ️️ and the song was... Open Your Heart!!! ️ In the voting session of the forum this song hasn’t won even the second place this year. And I haven’t seen around any other public contest for a preferred Europe's song in Viña nor anybody tear his own vest for that song…This is why I have had to exclaim “OM(F)G! Synchronicity at the n-th power here, then!” Once again… I have had to bend on my knees and the fading of my camera was my very own view’s fading, the shaking of my camera was my very own shivering inside for how I felt in that moment. On top of this, Staffan - the Tour Manager - passed by me in the crowd during my recording of OYH and he punched me on my arm (his usual way to say hi to me...), was it a sign of the destiny?! Then, on the night after, in Monticello, Joey turned to where I was on the “and I’ve been waiting for the angels to knock on my door”! As I wrote on Europe’s FB page, Europe has literally had me on my knees with THAT call. And as I had remarked a few days ago, Joey can mismatch lyrics at times, but this time he went very precise with “maybe you change and give me THAT call”. Sure, it all happened by pure coincidence That's why: Wise men say only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with Viña ️

The Viña del Mar Festival is a kind of different festival the guys are not used to. The artists are usually interrupted some minutes before the end of the show to give them the award (silver and in some cases, golden seagull.) Surely Joey was uncomfortable when the host tried to make him speak Spanish. Now, about the audience, let's be honest here, most of the people know only the hits from the band (TFC, Carrie, RTN, Open Your Heart, Cherokee and Superstitious) but don't know about the heavier or newer songs, so, I think this was a GREAT opportunity to show the people that didn't know that the band STILL ROCKS!! During and after the show, most of people were incredibly amazed about how the band is still on and the vocal quality of Joey Tempest. And yeah, the director of the show messed it up a lot (most of people were very annoyed about it too.)
