Europe the band - Media cornerwww.facebook.com/europethebandmedia/photos/a.1084671274900030.1073741828.1082526535114504/1121647541202403/?type=3A few words from Peter Arkhult, the promoter of the Festival U Rock in Umeå on 26th May that will be headlined by Europe. “U Rock is a new festival in Umeå, a town 1 hour flight North of Stockholm, so it’s pretty far up North. Europe will headline, it’s a one day festival with 4 bands (the others are yet to be announced). Europe has played in Umeå a couple of times, last time two years ago when they did the "Wings of tomorrow" tour, playing that complete record. We asked Europe because they are such a loved band that fits a broad rock festival. We are sure they will do an amazing show and are looking forward to May 26 in Umeå.” Do you know that May 26 also marks the 30th birthday of the release of the album “The Final Countdown”? A special date indeed! For info and tickets: www.tickster.com/sv/events/6m0puv4hm1d8btm/2016-05-26/u-rock-2016-europe-m-fl-------------------------------------------- So they're playing a gig on the anniversary date for the TFC album release. Hmm... Wouldn't this be a perfect opportunity to do a TFC anniversary gig? Most likely it will just be a regular gig and they'll save the anniversary stuff for the anniversary tour in October/November, but hey, it's still a fun thought.

Yeah that's also what I thought. If it was a date closer to the november tour than maybe they would've used this gig as some sort of try-out. But as it is in may I don't see it happening. But we can dream don't we?!

Yes! Tickets booked already. Hope to see some of you there! One can celebrate "unofficially", I guess. The best way that comes to mind is by seeing EUROPE on that date

Thank you to confirm me that it's THE date! Having missed EUROPE in the 80's, I wasn't sure... but I had read in some other places that this is the 30th anniversary day of the album release! It's a very nice thought indeed that they will play on that night! Someone knows how many times and when EUROPE played in Umeå, and particularly in their first era? Did it happen only with Kee Marcello or also with John Norum?

Special thanks to Michaela Italy for the live reports during the concert last night! Setlist: (EDIT: Added Ready or Not. Thanks to Marina Art for the heads up! ) War of Kings Hole in My Pocket Rock the Night Wasted Time Prelude [tape]Last Look at Eden Carrie The Second Day Firebox Sign of the Times [preceded by keyboard solo] Vasastan Girl From Lebanon Ready or Not Nothin' to Ya Drum Solo Superstitious Cherokee Days of Rock 'n' Roll ----- The Final Countdown Pretty standard setlist. No surprises for the anniversary day. I guess they're saving all that for the anniversary tour in November. Oh well, always nice to see "Wasted Time" on the setlist. ...I'm not too sure I'm happy with the swapping of "Rock the Night" and "Superstitious" in the setlist. I like both songs, but in my opinion "Rock the Night" fits much better as one of the last songs instead of one of the first.
