Cool designations I'm curious to know which songs go in the last category, but we have time for that!

"Flames" is what I call "a good song". There's 4 categories among EUROPE songs IMO : -The exceptional ones : the songs that make you feel happy and energetic every time you're listening to them. The songs you're never tired of. The songs you're so fond of, the songs you find so perfect, that you couldn't do without them actually. -The good ones : the solid foundation of Europe works. Songs full of qualities ; you simply like them, some days more than others. -The average ones : songs that you can listen to with some interest, but you wouldn't really miss them if they were not there. -The bad ones (not a lot !) : the songs you hate, and you're skipping systematically when you're listening to a Europe album. The kind of songs that could lead you not to like Europe anymore if they were together in a full album... So, "Flames" is not among my very favorites, but it's a good song, with a lot of intensity. I appreciate it every time I'm listening to it. But that's not the one I would listen spontaneously when, having a little time in front of me, I think : "let's listen to a Europe song". Then, I would choose another one.
Interesting thought ... "the bad ones (not a lot!)" LOL I love the phrase, well ... I like FLAMES but to be honest I like more START FROM THE DARK, ...
I have found an interview of Joey from that time in which he talked about FLAMES as his favourite song in live and his favourite song of the álbum ... www.rockeyez.com/interviews/int-europe.html
Do you have a favorite song you like to perform “live?” “Flames” is great because it’s new but still connects with the audience. “Girl From Lebanon” I really like to perform as well. It’s an “interesting” track from the “Prisoners In Paradise” album. And, of course, songs like “Rock The Night” and “Superstitious” are always great because they can really kick the show into high gear.
Do you have a favorite track off the new CD and why? At the moment it’s the third song, “Flames,” because it just represents the feeling we had when we first started working on this album. Getting back together again, giving everything and risking it all for this purpose and this band. It’s just a good track and it works really well “live” as well.
I really would like listen to FLAMES in live, ... it could be great !

Last look at Eden is for me, in many senses, The final countdown of Europe's second stage. Is it by chance, I wonder, that it comes from the third album after the reunion?

It's John Norum's favourite Europe song.... Yeah! you're right! In a recent interview to John, said this: " ... the song I can not get enough of hear it ... " www.eclipsed.de/aktuell/europe-interview-mit-john-norumLast look at Eden is for me, in many senses, The final countdown of Europe's second stage. Is it by chance, I wonder, that it comes from the third album after the reunion? maybe yes ... and perhaps the "third album" is a sign of destiny, but for many people that place has been taken by "Days of rock and roll", ... Last Look at Eden for me is better song, but Days is more spectacular, more catchy.

I think in this forum we have reviews from BAG OF BONES but not earlier, so I guess we have nothing about LAST LOOK AT EDEN. So, any comments about it ? " ... In fact Last Look At Eden really has found Europe in a rich vein of form which is illustrated right from the off with the title track smacking you in the face with a great memorable riff. Bassist John Leven and drummer Ian Haugland grab that riff and turn it into a hard hitting melodic masterpiece with a chorus line that refuses to leave you head, what a great way to start an album ... "www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=8525"... The songs don't befit the sum of their parts, but there are still moments of absolute brilliance. 'Prelude' cunningly starts with the same thunderous note as 'The Final Countdown' - an obvious reference to past glories - and leads into the simply excellent title track. It's a massive symphonic number with a staggeringly proportioned chorus. The whole song is arguably a touch flat (if you sit back and analyse it) but, for a pure hit of beautifully aggressive musicianship, it's bloody excellent ... "www.rockrealms.com/archive/e/europe_llae.php"... The title track is one of the more immediate, and a natural first single, with an infectious and pile-driving orchestral/guitar riff..." www.getreadytorock.com/reviews2009/europe4.htmOK, I've found wonderful reviews, ... the last says about EUROPE: "... The renaissance of Europe has been one of the more interesting stories of recent years and 'Last Look At Eden' further consolidates their credentials as one of our finest melodic hard rock bands ... But not as epic I love Days, but if I had to find another song as epic as TFC well, for me only LLAE stands a comparison (and maybe No stone unturned).
