It was open to anyone.
It started at 20.00 (if I remember well) and it was organised by the Classic Rock Magazine. The stand was up the hill (behind the bleachers) at the right side of the stage. I didn't know, before the show, that this "signing session" was planned, or else I would have told you. In fact, I discovered it in a pretty strange way (that perhaps deserves to be told).
First of all, I think at the end of the BSR gig, I noticed the H.E.A.T. members passing behind the stage (from the left side, where the dressing rooms must have been, to the right). Than I saw them all transit across a mysterious door. I remember I asked myself: where are they going altogether? . Anyway, after the Europe gig, when you (Guesswho) had already left, I went on the left side of the stage to see if I could see Europe members where I had previously seen Ian assisting (from the backstage) to BSR gig. As I thought, soon as Whitesnake gig started, Mic appeared just there. He was speaking at the telephone but, when he turned in my direction, I waved and he waved me back . Later Joey joined Mic to see WS. As I stood a few meters back I could see both the gig and the "moves" of Joey and Mic. At one point some Europe fans that were there managed to catch the attention of Joey. He was really nice and came near the barriers to sign a few autographs (and I managed to make him sign my ticket). He stayed there maybe five minutes and than went back where Mic still stayed, to see a little more of WS show. After a few minutes they went togheter towards the dressing rooms. But, just before they disappeared, Mic looked again in my direction. I waved and he made me a sign as to say "wait a minute, I'm back soon". Well, if Mic says to wait, I wait . So I kept my place there, with one eye at WS and one at the backstage (I must have become crossed-eyed!) Ten minutes later I saw all the five guys from Europe, taking the way behind the stage that H.E.A.T. had previously taken . So I made the parallel way from the left to right side of the stage and I saw them reappearing for a moment before they entered the mysterious door. Well, something is going on here (I thought)...what's this place where all the rock stars seem bound to be taken soon after their show ? So I climbed up the hill following what I assumed to be a parallel path, and just on the top, it was revealed (elementary, my dear Watson) the Classic Rock Magazine stand with a paper on it where the times of the signing sessions where clearly stated . So I queued there and, a few seconds later, Europe appeared and started to sign. Now my problem was: how do I explain Joey I already have his autograph? It seemed to me weird just jumping him ("no, thank you, I don't want your autograph!" ) but I didn't want to appear more maniac than what I really am (and I'm a lot, in some senses, I realized). So I tought that I could have my T-shirt signed, but it's black and it wouldn't have probably worked. Before I could find a good B-plan I was arrived. Ian joked about the T-shirt (as I have already told), and signed my ticket. John L. was very quiet and maybe he asked himself how did I have Joey's signature before his, but he just looked at me without saying anything. I told him "happy anniversary" and he just moved his head affermatively . When Mic saw me, he recognized me immediatly, and saied something like: "hey, I'm sorry if I couldn't come but they led me here". (In a second I thought: "Mic Michaeli, the man that plays that legendary riff, is asking me to excuse Him! Dear Mic, if that'd compensated one third of the pleasure you've given me in thirty years of music, you could easily beat me all day long with a baseball bat without a word of excuse. But that wouldn't simply do") I answered instead: "no problem Mic, if I had known there was this signing session I wouldn't have bothered you, over there!" Then I was in front of Joey. He seemed really weirded out when he saw his signature on the ticket and I must have said something like: "well, actually you signed it a few minutes ago, over there, and there's no reason for you to say it again. But it's nice to have the chance of shaking your hand" He just laughed and I passed on to John N. By that time I had finished my small reserve of "smartness" and I could only whisper to Thor: "Hey, John, you're an idol". He just smiled and said with a very deep voice something like "thank you, I appreciate it". And with that, I should have told everything. Now you know what happens if I get triggered with the simple question: "was there a signing session?"
LOL ha ha ha ha ... Fantastic "ent" !!! You've made my day with your story, ... that's funny!
But I understand you perfectly, ...Some times I think about what could tell them if I meet with the band,
and that not sounds too pathetic , you know? But imposible ... and I'm not prepared at all for that someone
like MIC is telling me "sorry" ... I think I would be in shock, someone who makes music that is able to make
my life better "he can not say to me I'm sorry!!"before of it I have to give him thanks at least 1,000 times !
And about Norum .."Hey John you are an idol!" sounds great!!! ha ha ... do you had the words prepared?
I have to get me a phrase ... if one day I meet John, I would like also to tell him nice words like these ...
but in my case I'm sure that would be dificult to tell any word , ...
I'm glad for you ent, amazing meeting
