My 10th Europe show tonight! I just got home. Amazing gig! Band was on fire, Joey's voice in good shape and a nice crowd. Not sold out officially but it sure looked like it. It was pretty packed! It's interesting that I read about people having mixed feelings about this show. I was with 3 friends and 1 of them (he joined me on all shows since 2004) also thought the WOK part was cool, but a bit boring. I can surely understand that, but for me...it worked perfect. After so many "normal" shows with different songs from all albums, this was nice for a change. I thought it was an interesting choice. Risky but interesting. WOK is my favorite post-reunion album by the way, that might have helped too WOK part: Flawless performance! I agree with the comments I saw in the London topic, Children of the mind (so heavy!) and Light it up were amazing. California 405 also a highlight. Pretty good crowd response also. Maybe it would have been nicer if they played the songs in the original order, but hey. TFC part: Well, what can I say. Totally awesome! I think maybe even the coolest 50 minutes of all Europe shows I saw I only heard 4 songs live till now, so the other 6 were just amazing. Especially Ninja, Heart of Stone and Love Chaser. I didn't think the pictures were distracting at all by the way. It worked perfectly for me. You can look away whenever you want to, so yeah I recorded one song, here is Heart of Stone:

Hej Ernie, would've loved to meet you. I was there too! I didn't find the pictures as distracting as in Cologne, because the screens were higher in Utrecht. What a great venue! Did anybody notice the code line on the computer screen before TFC: usr/bin/celebrating? I found this rather funny ...

Another great show! I enjoyed the TFC part more now compared to London. Don't know why though...maybe because I knew by now not to stare at the screens all the time The problem (well it's not really a problem but there you go...) still is that I can't enjoy TFC, RTN, Carrie and Cherokee because they're played to death on radio and live. That's 4 songs off of the album. The other 6 are the real cream of the crop for me. And I enjoyed them SO much yesterday! Ninja, On the loose and Love chaser especially! Wow these came over so very well!! And again I liked the playing of the whole WoK album very much. To be honest that album is more challenging to play compared to TFC. There's more dynamics between those songs some way or another. Don't know exactly how to describe it correctly. But the songs on TFC are all in the same style. Except the 2 ballads you have all up tempo melodic hardrock songs more or less. On WoK there's much more going on style wise. All in all it were 2 incredible shows with London winning crowdwise and Utrecht winning performance wise.

And yes I noticed that code line too, pretty funny indeed I can't enjoy TFC, RTN, Carrie and Cherokee because they're played to death on radio and live. That's 4 songs off of the album. Yes I know what you mean and I agree with you. Those first three songs from TFC went by as usual for me and I was really waiting for Danger on the Track. Although I must say I really liked the intro to TFC and feel the buzz in the crowd. Got me pumped up too! I was skeptical about TFC being played in the middle of the concert but it worked out great.

Yes true! I also got pumped up by both the intro movie and the TFC beginning in the background. And to be honest; TFC is the best out of the first 3...In the car on the journey back home me and my Europe buddy said that it would've been REALLY special if they did come back for an encore and played On broken wings! And than the short TFC snippet after that to end the gig. Totally don't understand why they ignore that masterpiece. And as it was the b-side to TFC I'm 100% sure everybody in the venue knows the song very well. A missed opportunity for sure!!
